Member, Inspection Panel World Bank
Washington, D.C., USA
The World Bank is inviting applications for an opening on its Inspection Panel. The Panel, created in 1993 and consisting of three members with overlapping 5 year terms, carries out independent investigations into whether the Bank has complied with its policies and procedures, in response to requests from people and organizations affected by World Bank projects. Reporting to the Board of Executive Directors, the three Members manage the general operations of the Panel and its activities with the support of a Panel Secretariat.
The independence of the Panel and nature of the role requires that each Member has a strong record of leadership, collaboration, advisory capability, personal and professional integrity, and commanding trust in an environment of broad responsibility in multicultural and multidisciplinary settings. Flexibility and the agility to handle shifting workloads is a must, as is the need to interact effectively and objectively in settings from rural areas in developing countries to leadership offices in governments, the World Bank, nongovernmental organizations, and other international organizations.
The successful candidate will possess outstanding credentials in his or her field of expertise, demonstrated sound judgment, strong analytical skills, a reputation for independence, and 15+ years of significant and relevant practical experience and educational background in economic, legal, social, environmental and other development-related fields.
A full position description will be sent upon receipt of nominations or expressions of interest to: WBGInspectionPanel@Boyden.com. A posting of the position description can be found on the Panel’s website: http://www.worldbank.org/inspectionpanel. Deadline April 13, 2012.
