The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:

• Chemistry diploma is essential
• English literacy
• Previous laboratory working experience is essential
• The ability to work effectively in a diverse environment
• Experience in analytical instruments, reading and trouble shooting
• Able to work independently as well as in a team
• Computer literacy (Microsoft Office) is essential
• Self-driven and highly motivated with good interpersonal and communication skills
• A valid medical certificate or be medically fit in order to obtain such a certificate.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Maintaining and promoting established standards and procedures
• Preparing, analysing and reporting results of laboratory samples for PGMs, IPGMs, base metals etc, using various analytical sample preparation and computerised reporting skills
• Participating in programmes to improve safety and productivity
• Performing administrative duties such as calculation, reporting and graphs
• Working in a neat, tidy, organised and accurate manner
• Supervision of subordinates
• Actively participating in and promoting the Laboratory’s Quality Management System.
