Syngenta Regulatory and Stewardship Seeds has a vacancy for a Regulatory Manager within its Brussels Office. The new incumbent will dedicate him/herself to the preparation of commercial applications for biotechnology products for the region Europe-Africa-Middle East (EAME).

ABOUT THE POSITION

Organizational Relationships

The new, EAME Regulatory Manager will report functionally to the Senior Regulatory Manager Seeds, who is based in the Syngenta Brussels office.

He/She will be a member of the Regulatory and Stewardship Seeds EAME Team. He/She will support the Senior Manager in achieving and maintaining regulatory approvals for Syngenta products developed through gene technology (genetically modified plants).

He/She will be responsible for the satisfactory implementation of regulatory requirements into the corresponding activities related to the preparation of commercial applications, ensuring high scientific quality and adequacy of dossiers, and preparation of responses to questions from regulatory agencies.

He/She will interact with the rest of the Regulatory and Stewardship Seeds EAME Team, global project managers and other Functions such as Product Safety. Travel may require about 5-10% of time, including to the United States.

Job Purpose

The EAME Regulatory Manager will be responsible for the preparation of EAME commercial submissions to obtain and maintain EAME regulatory approvals for Syngenta products developed through gene technology. He/She will support the timely submission of high quality commercial applications in accordance with the company objectives and the regulatory requirements in EAME countries.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support relevant EAME Project Managers on multiple crop biotechnology products, prepare and submit high quality regulatory dossiers and facilitate liaison with authorities to ensure import, cultivation and field trial approvals in line with business aspirations;
  • Implement strategies for submissions and approvals in EAME of biotechnology products, including those in integrated projects; contribute to establishment of plans that acknowledge threats and business opportunities and that consider regulatory frameworks;
  • Work in project teams and advise Global Regulatory and Product Safety to ensure appropriate project plans are developed and implemented according to EAME requirements;
  • Effectively translate EAME requirements related to molecular biology, mode of action, comparative assessment and/or safety evaluation into new procedures/data production relevant across projects;
  • Facilitate timely interactions with relevant Syngenta territories on all seed regulatory matters.

ABOUT THE CANDIDATE

Experience and Education Background

  • Two or more years technical experience in a relevant regulatory science discipline. Direct experience in a regulatory role is an asset;
  • Degree in science or PhD in a plant biotechnology discipline;
  • Good understanding of safety assessments, registration requirements in EAME and Product Safety issues related to biotechnology products;
  • Knowledge of legislations related to biotechnology product registration in EAME countries;
  • Strong writing skills in English and preferably having skills in other languages.
