Construction Project Manager
Role and Responsibilities
The Construction Project Manager will manage the rehabilitation of bridges and other river crossings in Niangara-Poko.
Project Overview
Medair operates in three sectors: Health: supporting IDPs in Irumu and Bas & Haut Uélé; WASH: improving water and sanitation in health centres and households; Infrastructure: rehabilitation of bridges and crossings to improve humanitarian access.

Key Activity Areas
Management
- Manage and plan the work of the construction team.
- With the team, motivate stakeholders to ensure a high level of participation and project ownership.
- Write interim and final reports for the project.
Technical
- Oversee technical design and execution of rehabilitation locations.
- Train Medair team on work standards required of team and contractors.
- Ensure the work meets quality standards, budget, logframe and timing.
Planning and Reporting
- Conduct regular monitoring and evaluation assessments against project objectives.
Logistics
- Responsible for the oversight of requests for construction materials; to ensure timely arrival of materials as needed for construction.
Security and Safety Management
- To implement good practice health and safety approaches during all construction activities.
Qualifications
- University degree in construction engineering, or civil engineering
Experience / Competencies
- 2 years’ professional engineering experience post qualification
- 1 year experience overseas in a relief or development context
- Fluent French (written and spoken)
- Ability to plan, and to draw up designs and plans by hand for reconstruction projects
- At least one year of managing site project teams / multicultural team
- The ability to involve communities in a participatory manner
- Initiative taker ; Autonomous
- Able to work in team and live in community
- Able to communicate in a constructive way even through tensions. Take initiatives to build relations
- Ability to cope with basic and potentially insecure living conditions
- Able to coach, lead and inspire local staff
- Excellent cross-cultural skills

- Successful completion of Medair Relief & Rehabilitation Orientation Course (ROC)

- Strong character traits, including emotional stability, adaptability, ability to handle stress, cultural and gender sensitivity, honesty, and physically fit
