Course Awards Officer – Australia Awards in Africa

BACKGROUND

Australia Awards in Africa (AAA) in an AusAID-funded initiative designed: (i) to equip Africans with the skills and knowledge necessary to influence the economic and social development outcomes of their own countries; and (ii) to build the long-term capacity of African governments to provide a range of essential services, strengthen law and justice systems, improve transparency and achieve reforms to meet their own development challenges, particularly to progress towards their Millennium Development Goals.

The Program is managed by GRM International which is seeking for a Short Course Awards Officer.

THE ROLE

REPORTS TO: Officer-in-Charge Brisbane Hub

DURATION: Commence June 2012 to December 2013 with a possible 2 years extension

PURPOSE

The Short Course Awards Officer (hereafter the SCAO) is responsible for supporting the planning, delivery and monitoring and evaluation of Short Course Awards (SCA) by Australian host organisations contracted under the AusAID funded Australia Awards in Africa initiative (AAA). The SCAO will assist in the identification of host organisations, prepare tendering documentation and facilitate all facets of the tendering and contracting process. The SCA will also monitor and evaluate the performance of host organisations in accordance with established monitoring and evaluation indicators.

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • 3-5 years experience in monitoring and evaluation activities or demonstrated knowledge of the processes to be applied with an educational context
  • Excellent demonstrated communication skills and experience of working effectively across cultures with a diversity of clients
  • 3-5 years experience in training/educational services procurement, including preparing tender documentation, contracts and related budget proposals
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with training providers
  • 3-5 years experience in project coordination or project management in a training or tertiary education environment
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to multi-task and problem solve effectively
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, project management or other related field
  • Literacy in information technology, including experience of the Microsoft Office suite of applications
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the principles of Equal Opportunity and Occupational Health and Safety.
