The Institute seeks to appoint a Human Resources Manager to be based at the ISS office in Pretoria. The successful candidate will lead the Institute in the strategic management of the organisation’s human capital, people development and the application of the organisation’s philosophy.

The position requires a high level of initiative; ability to anticipate projections in terms of institutional needs and expectations – and respond accordingly; and the capacity to manage and provide requisite guidance to the HR departments and associated regional matrix unit. It is essential that the HR Manager be at the forefront as a strategic driver of HR management.

Specifically the tasks required are detailed below:

  • To provide advice to the ISS Management Committee on organizational strategy regarding human capital development
  • Support and drive the organisation’s philosophy
  • To partner senior members of the organisation to facilitate Institutional performance and people engagement by leveraging people processes and policies.
  • To contribute to HR strategy and policies, and ensure that it is aligned with the current and future needs of the organisation
  • To drive the formulation of HR strategy to ensure that people and talents are considered as critical success factors, to manage the talent pipeline
  • To act as a facilitator, working with Division heads and Directors both collectively and individually to drive people management solutions
  • Advise and assist the Institute with employee relations, disciplinary and grievance resolution.
  • Manage the payroll process on a monthly basis according to financial policy and procedures
  • Formulate and manage a training policy and strategy according to operational needs, training analysis, skills development act requirements and organisational needs.
  • Ensure ISS remains compliant with all legislation and related guidelines and regulations set in national legislation;
  • Ensure the implementation and control of a recruitment system to recruit employees according to organisational requirements.
  • Processing of work permits for expatriate staff in South Africa and responsible for their relocation and settling in.

Requirements

  • A Postgraduate qualification in Human Resources Management or equivalent
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience as an HR generalist.
  • Proven knowledge of all relevant labour legislation.
  • Ability to practice and apply strategic Human Resource Management
  • Ability to develop and interpret policies relating to Human resources
  • VIP Payroll Knowledge and experience essential
  • Proficiency in written and verbal communication at all levels
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

The position will be based at the ISS office in Pretoria and includes extensive regional travel.

Salary: Salary range is commensurate with ISS internal salary structure and is available upon request.
