Our location at the heart of the UK's capital city reflects our position at the centre of influencing policy and practice. We're looking for ambitious post- doctoral researchers keen to develop skills and expertise toquickly become leading thinkers in their field. All our Research Fellows have access to a comprehensive programme of mentoring and support, with an emphasis on building a research agenda and securing funding.

We currently have up to 10 John Adams Research Fellowships available for academics ready to help us shape thinking about social research in the 21st century. Join us and you will lead on a strategically significant research area, developing a research agenda, applying for research funding grants and developing an impact and dissemination strategy for your research, working with more experienced academics to maximise impact to academics and non-academic users. We're particularly keen to receive applications from those in the following fields:

  • Quantitative economic and social research and quantitative methods
  • Education leadership and system reform
  • Assessment and psychometrics
  • Languages in education, sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, applied linguistics, bi-and multilingual learner and in intercultural communication
  • Arts education, digital arts and curatorial practices in galleries, museums and elsewhere
  • Technologies and innovation including social media and mobile technologies, ubiquitous and physical computing, and design based digital research.
  • Schooling, school processes and school quality, including patterns of inequity
  • Child development: including neuroscience, epigenomics, psychology and health
  • Early years
  • Family processes, family dynamics, early intervention, health education and health policy
  • Learners and learner experiences, including individual learning needs
  • Teaching, teachers and teacher learning, including pedagogic innovation and curriculum development
  • International development

To join us, you must have a doctorate in a relevant field, as well as evidence of the potential to make a significant contribution and to lead an area of research. As well as excellent knowledge of either advanced qualitative or quantitative analysis, you'll have a proven ability to write clearly and concisely for both academic and policy or practitioner audiences.
