Fixed Term - Up to 6 months (unaccompanied)

£20,619 - £27,642 net per annum pro rata to the contract length

Hard To Work Allowance - £4000 p.a. net, pro rata to the contract length. (This only applies to countries who qualify for the hard to work allowance)

The role

We are looking for Public Health Engineers who can respond to various humanitarian crisis e.g. drought, floods, and experience setting up camps for IDPs and refugees. We are also looking for both English and French speakers.

Please note this is a rapid recruitment and we will be longlisting applications as they come in. We are looking to also put more Public Health Engineers on the Public Health Engineering register for future deployments.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage programme direction, speed and quality of implementation of all public health engineering activities through effective coordination and integration of PH activities in a refugee context (way station, transit centre and or camp settings) and surrounding host.

• The strategy of interventions in addition to the designated sites also includes interventions based at the border, and as per Oxfam triggers for interventions.

Skills and Competence

• A degree or equivalent in engineering, public health or social sciences related discipline.

• The post holder should have significant practical experience doing relief work in emergencies. Prior experience as a WASH Coordinator is essential.

• Skills in assessment, analysis and planning linked to the development of strategic programme approaches.

• Previous experience managing teams in multiple geographic areas.

• Training, mentoring and counterpart development skills.

• Commitment to humanitarian principles and action and to Oxfam's Equal Opportunity and Gender policies. Demonstrated experience of integrating gender and diversity issues into public health programmes.

• Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to use standard computer software packages.

• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team. Diplomacy, tact and negotiation skills are essential.

• Personnel management skills.

• Experience of working under pressure and in response to changing need is desirable

• Good written and spoken is English essential

• Good written and spoken French
