Dean, College of Engineering

The picturesque University of Saskatchewan (U of S) campus is located in the heart of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on the banks of the South Saskatchewan River. Since 1907, the role of the university has continually evolved and is now one of the top 15 medical-doctoral, research-intensive universities in Canada. The campus is also home to facilities unique to a university, including the Canadian Light Source, Canada’s only synchrotron, and VIDO-InterVac, a facility that studies infectious diseases in both animals and humans.
Each year, the U of S welcomes about 20,000 students to study in 13 colleges and three graduate schools, including growing numbers of international students and one of the highest populations of Aboriginal students among medical-doctoral universities. There are approximately 138,000 alumni around the world.
The U of S offers over 50 degrees, diplomas and certificates in over 100 disciplines; signature areas of strength include research into Aboriginal Peoples, agriculture, energy and mineral resources, animal and human health, synchrotron science and water security.
Proud of its history and optimistic about its future, the College of Engineering is dedicated to developing tomorrow’s leaders, managers, and professionals through teaching, research, and service. With more than 1,600 undergraduate and 320 graduate students, the College currently offers degrees at the undergraduate level Bachelor of Science in Engineering (B.Sc. Eng.) and through several graduate programs leading towards a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.), Master of Science (M.Sc.), or Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.).
Reporting to the Provost, the Dean of the College of Engineering will have a record of successful leadership and building on new opportunities. S/he will have a passion for excellence in research and teaching as well as a highly developed understanding of engineering and innovation. The ability to advocate for the College both internally and externally to the industrial community is critical. The new Dean will have a PhD and a strong record of achievement in administration, research and teaching and will have excellent interpersonal skills that will excite and engage faculty, staff, students and external communities in the continuing growth of the College of Engineering and its emergence as a leading engineering school in Canada.
