Emergency Programme Officer World Vision UK

Support our emergency responses so developing countries can emerge stronger.
Emergency Programme Officer
Salary: £30,172 - £35,497 per annum (dependent upon experience)
Based: Milton Keynes

The largest overseas aid charity, we deliver real change for millions of children in the hardest places in the world. Our mission is to bring governments, local authorities, community groups, businesses and individuals together to tackle the causes of injustice and poverty – and to transform eight million lives in almost 100 countries. You will play a vital part in our emergency responses, as you deliver wide-ranging programming and technical support to ongoing interventions whilst reacting rapidly to new disasters requiring our involvement.

Your impact will be felt during both the relief and recovery phases, as you align resources with needs, take ownership of a challenging portfolio of projects, oversee financial management and manage risk. At the same time, you will actively identify and pursue donor funding opportunities, and support colleagues to engage the public and UK government in our emergency response work. Frequent travel to emergency responses will be required to initiate, monitor and support projects.

This is an extremely varied and stimulating role, demanding a proven humanitarian professional with a degree level education and extensive NGO experience, including experience of emergency responses. This will have given you deep understanding of humanitarian theory and practice, with strong emphasis on quality and accountability, and you will be fully capable of overseeing every aspect of the project lifecycle. Knowledge of French, Spanish, Portuguese or other relevant languages would be useful, but it’s your creativity, flexibility and structured approach to problem solving that will matter most.
