About Coram Children’s Legal Centre:
Coram Children’s Legal Centre (CCLC) is a unique independent NGO concerned with law and policy affecting children and youth. The Centre works in the United Kingdom and around the world to promote and protect the rights of children through the reform of law, policy and practice and through the provision of direct legal assistance to young people, parents and professionals.
About the Internship
We are seeking a highly motivated, dynamic intern to provide support to our busy office. We are asking for a commitment of a minimum of 3 days a week for 6 months, starting as soon as possible.
The ideal candidate will be an independent, talented individual with the ability to perform a wide range of administrative and supportive activities including: answering calls and emails from stakeholders from a wide range of backgrounds in a clear and objective manner; providing administrative and operations support.
This would be an ideal opportunity for someone who is looking to kick-start a career in family law and/or social work. The internship will also include some training given by solicitors specialising in Adoption.
Requirements:
Essential:
Background in family law/social work (minimum at least 2nd year university student)
Outstanding writing skills
Excellent administrative and computer/technology skills
Strong, proactive communication skills: ability to represent the work of the organization externally
Ability to take initiative, responsibility for one’s own work load, and to meet tight deadlines
Flexible and sensitive approach to working with people from a range of cultures
Desirable:
Background in Adoption Law
Knowledge of Adoption Agencies
Broad understanding of child rights and development issues
Experience of working at a charity/ NGO
