Aga Khan Foundation National Manager, Natural Resource Management


To lead implementation of NRM programme, providing direction and technical leadership to further the development of AKF’s NRM programme components. Main Duties and Responsibilities: • Assist the RD Director in devising a clear strategy and concepts that will guide the future direction of AKF(Afg)’s engagement in FPTR and horticulture development in Afghanistan. • Assist AKF(Afg)’s NRM programme team in developing strategic documents (e.g. concept notes, proposals) for programme development. • Provide technical backstopping support to build capacity among the AKF(Afg) field team implementing horticulture development activities under various grants • Facilitate the coordination between, and integration of Integrated Crop Management (ICM) based horticulture activities. • Build NRM staff capacity on FPTR concepts and methodology, including Farmer Field School (FFS) and Participatory Technology Development (PTD), as well as guide implementation and impact measurement. • Develop farmers’ Common Interest Group (CIG) clusters to drive localized ICM based agriculture development. (Target: piloting 1 cluster in 1 district in each Badakhshan and Takhar provinces.) • Work with AKF (Afg)’s ERLU team in the establishment of monitoring and quality assurance mechanisms for Farmer Participatory Training Research (FPTR) activities, including FFS and PTD activities. • Ensure participation of farming communities, CSOs and government in all stages of programme development and implementation.
Required Qualifications and Experience: • Make operational / technical decisions relevant to the scope of this position • Supervise and manage the performance of its direct supervisee • Proven fluency in the English language. Strong communication skill, report writing and presentation. • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines • Evidence of ability to plan and manage complex processes; • At least 5 years experience in related field.
