Department

The Communications department are responsible for managing, promoting and protecting the BBC’s corporate reputation both externally and internally.
 
You will primarily work across BBC World Service English and Languages content, but will also be required to work flexibly across the Global News team, including on Corporate, News, Business and Programme Publicity.

Role

A key aspect of this role will be to write and issue press information, and work with the team to deal with media enquiries, and compile information for and/or write press releases as required. You will also provide day-to-day administrative and general communications support to the International Communications team and help effectively co-ordinate media and communications activities and events.

The ability to lead, where necessary, on communications projects, including liasing with editorial and trade stakeholders and ensure ongoing monitoring and feedback on any media communications is key.
 
Budget management, the building of inter-departmental relationships and strong diary management is fundamental to the success of this role, as is the ability to monitor media, including social media,on a daily basis searching for references to BBC Global News, key services and/or competitors and circulate key articles.
 
You will also help organise visits to the BBC Global News offices and the BBC Newsroom in London by foreign media, as required.

Requirements

You will possess a keen interest in international news, current affairs and international media/PR, and bring experience of working in a busy department, ideally within a communications team.

You will be highly organised with the ability to prioritise jobs, often to tight deadlines and work across many different time zones.
 
Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel and PowerPoint) are essential, and experience of using SAP, Dreamweaver, Adobe InDesign, MediaAtlas and PhotoShop would be an advantage.
 
A second language is desirable, but not essential.
