BBC Points West is the region’s most watched evening news. We broadcast to homes in the Bristol area, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Somerset and Dorset.
Our viewers come to us for an unrivalled service of local news and sport and analysis of events, which we provide throughout the day in our breakfast, lunch, evening and weekend bulletins. Staff gather and share content for TV, radio and online. The team also works closely with colleagues on weekly programmes, Inside Out and Sunday Politics. 
 

Role

Continuing contract 
Working as part of the small sports team, you'll be responsible for all aspects of TV work including planning and researching, filming and editing. You will work directly to the Points West Sports Reporter. You'll be expected to work flexibly including weekend and late shifts. You’ll be expected to film and edit your own material.  
We can offer you a great patch. We've two of country’s top rugby clubs and five football league clubs and a mass of great athletes training out of Bath University. On top of that there’s the two county cricket clubs and some of the world’s most famous horse trainers.

Requirements

 
You should know and love your sport and be full of story ideas and ways to turn them into great television as well as a desire to dig out the stories behind the scenes. You will have strong practical experience as a broadcast journalist and have proven editorial judgement and good writing skills. You'll have experience of working in a TV newsroom, used to hitting deadlines and experience of sharing across different output platforms.
Familiarity with sport in the West region and its key issues would be an advantage.  
You should have an understanding of the BBC’s Producer Guidelines and awareness of the legal considerations applying to all types of output.
