ActionAid UK Trustees

Location:London
Closing date:June 28th 2013
ActionAid UK is seeking two new trustees to our Board. We are looking for a trustee with a solid Legal background and another with Mass Marketing Communications, particularly digital, brand and/or direct marketing.
These two roles represent fantastic opportunities for experienced professionals who want to be part of an organisation that is delivering a bold strategy to provide sustained improvements to the poorest and most excluded people in the world.
You would be joining a dynamic organisation that has recently finalised new UK and Global strategies and has a new structure and fresh thinking in place.
As a member of our Board of Trustees, you’ll have enormous influence over the success of our charity. With your fellow trustees, you’ll influence our long-term strategy and be guardians of our ethos and values, stewarding income from supporters and institutions, influencing change and assisting other parts of our global Federation.
You’ll ensure ActionAid is led and managed correctly and effectively, that we take the well-being of our employees and volunteers seriously and that we’re accountable to our stakeholders. All of this is essential if we’re to play an influential and exemplary role as a member of ActionAid’s international federation and maintain our justifiably high level of public regard and respect across the globe.
As well as embracing our aims and values, and having the requisite skills in either legal or mass marketing communications you must have the strategic leadership skills, judgment and relationship building abilities to help us achieve our goals. The likely time commitment for the role will be 10-12 days per year which will include five Board meetings, four Board committee meetings, supporter meetings & events and engagement with other parts of the federation both in the UK and while travelling abroad. This role will take time and commitment, but you will be supporting the steps we take to help make a better world.
If that inspires you, and you are energised by the thought of working with a diverse range of people, please apply.
If you do not have legal or mass marketing communications skills, please do not apply on this occasion – there will be opportunities for people with other skill sets in future.
