Technical Specialist, Brazil, Mining and Energy

Location: Fauna & Flora International, Brazil (Brasilia desirable)
We are seeking a highly motivated, skilled and experienced individual to provide technical, management and coordination expertise to our work programmes and initiatives with business in Brazil. The Technical Specialist, Brazil will have responsibility for managing exciting partnerships, with predominately mining and energy businesses willing to implement biodiversity management at sites across Brazil. You will contribute to the development of new partnerships with both business and national NGOs, helping to build capacity of these partners to work together in Brazil and internationally to address this growing need.
You must work effectively with FFI’s Mining and Energy Programme, the Agricultural Landscapes Programme and regional teams in order to cover a diverse work load. At the same time, you must be able to work with a high degree of autonomy and capacity to implement your components of the programme effectively and to fulfil partnership commitments.
Ideally, you will have a range of experience in the NGO and business sectors. Experience working in cross-sector partnerships would be an advantage. You will have a strategic, pragmatic and lateral approach to problem solving, and exhibit excellent technical, presentation and project management skills.
This role will involve collaboration and coordination with a range of FFI staff and will require significant national travel and some international travel to meet the objectives and requirements of the programme.

Aceh Projects Manager, Aceh Programme

Duration of Contract: One year fixed-term contract, with possibility to extend based on business need and funding availability
Location: Banda Aceh, with regular travel to field locations within Aceh province, with occasional travel to Jakarta and elsewhere as required
FFI is seeking an experienced and dynamic Manager to lead its Aceh Projects, which focus on forest protection, wildlife management, climate change mitigation and marine and coastal resource management.
Candidates will possess an MSc level qualification in a relevant discipline and a minimum of five years’ experience working in the fields of nature conservation, ecosystem management and/or community engagement, within an international conservation environment.
Previous experience of managing World Bank and European Union budgets and understanding of their grant regulations are key, as is an ability to liaise effectively with a range of project stakeholders, principally provincial and national government institutions. You will be fluent in both Indonesian and English, be able to write clearly and articulately in English and act as a mentor to the staff and partners who you will supervise as part of the project team. The Projects Manager must be able to integrate fully into the management systems and processes of the wider Indonesia and regional Asia-Pacific programmes.

Trusts and Foundations Account Manager

With staff globally across FFI engaged in fundraising from foundations and statutory sources, we plan to secure £19m in 2013. The Cambridge-based Trusts and Foundations team is responsible for securing circa £1.8m of this income, for both restricted project funding and unrestricted core funding.  We are seeking an experienced Trusts and Foundations Account Manager to join our successful team to strengthen and expand income from this important source.
You will have excellent written and oral communication skills, and be a confident writer of accurate and compelling proposals. You will have a proven track record in securing funds and meeting financial targets.  Experience securing funds from mainland Europe and international foundations is desirable, as is experience working with programme staff internationally.

Programme Manager (Marine), Americas and Caribbean

Location: Belize City or Belmopan
FFI is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Programme Manager (Marine), Americas and Caribbean, to manage and provide expert guidance to certain field projects, principally in Belize and in the other countries where we work with national partner NGOs on marine conservation projects, currently Nicaragua, Honduras, Costa Rica and Ecuador. In the case of Belize, the Turneffe Atoll Marine Reserve project will be a priority, but the position will also provide advice and support across a range of topics – not only marine – to the Ministry of Forestry, Fisheries and Sustainable Development and to FFI’s principal NGO partner in southern Belize,  Ya’axché Conservation Trust.
The successful applicant will have at least a Master’s degree with a range of technical expertise relevant to conservation, including marine conservation. S/he will have a minimum of five years’ field experience in conservation, including work in Latin America or the Caribbean, and will have the behaviours and skills necessary to collaborate effectively with governments, non-governmental partners and stakeholders. S/he will be highly organised and be self-reliant yet a good team player, responsive to the ideas of colleagues and partners.  The ability to communicate fluently in both English and Spanish is essential. This position will be based in Belize City or Belmopan, with international travel, mainly within Central America.
