Dorcas is a Christian relief and development organisation active in Eastern Europe and Africa. In these regions Dorcas works together with local partner organisations. Dorcas is committed to fulfil the command Jesus Christ gave to His followers to take care of the poor and oppressed (Mt.25.31-46), irrespective of their race, religion, gender or political conviction, by encouraging self-reliance through development, providing social care and assisting in emergency situations.
The department Program Coordination is responsible for coordinating all programs including approximately 180 projects carried out in twenty countries. The department consists of three cluster coordinators and six program coordinators. Each program coordinator works within a specific cluster, including health, WASH, sustainable livelihoods and social care. To continue and expand the WASH program, which is part of the cluster including the sectors WASH, Health & hiv/aids, Dorcas has a vacancy for a:
Program Coordinator WASH
Employment: 0,8 FTE
We are looking for a committed and experienced candidate for the WASH program to join our team at headquarters in Andijk. Andijk is situated within a reasonable commuting distance of Amsterdam.
The program coordinator will be responsible for:
  • Ensuring implementation of WASH projects in line with donor proposals and requirements;
  • Give technical advice and support to field staff and colleagues of the cluster for WASH projects;
  • Coordinating Dorcas WASH projects in specific countries;
  • Fundraising for WASH projects;
  • Develop and implement WASH policies and guidelines;
  • Training local staff and partners on effective WASH interventions.
Job Requirements:
  • BSc or MA degree in a subject related to water and sanitation;
  • Experience in developing proposals and reports for IF(Institutional Funding);
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant international working experience in the sector WASH;
  • Practical, technical experience in designing and constructing WASH-facilities;
  • Proactive attitude, flexible personality, strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Adherence to the mission and vision of Dorcas;
  • Active membership of a local church;
  • Fluent command of English and willing to learn Dutch;
  • Ability to travel and to work in a cross-cultural environment.
