The Oyu Tolgoi is a large surface and underground copper and gold mining operation in the Aimag of Omnogovi, located in the South Gobi region of Mongolia and approximately 550 km south of the capital city, Ulaanbaatar.
The Oyu Tolgoi open cut mining operation commenced in 2011, construction and development of an underground mine is currently underway. First ore is planned for Q1 2013.
The Superintendent Water Utilities, reporting to the Manager – Central Heating Plant & Water Utilities, is responsible for all operation and maintenance aspects of the Raw Water Supply System, Water Treatment and Bottling Plant and the Waste Water Treatment Plant at the Oyu Tolgoi site. The role embraces a strong commitment to safety to ensure compliance with all applicable Mongolian regulations, Oyu Tolgoi and Rio Tinto standards and providing leadership towards the goal of zero accidents and injuries.
The successful applicant is responsible for the execution of business objectives for:
- The Raw Water Supply (RWS) system which includes a network of piping, pumps and bore-holes coming from the Gunii hooloi borehole field.
- The Water Treatment and Bottling Plant which provides domestic and drinking water for the site camp facilities and accommodation
- The Waste Water Treatment Plants – which treat all camp waste water.
To ensure success in this role, we are seeking an energetic, highly experienced individual who holds Degree qualification and have at least 10-15 years progressively responsible experience in civil, mining, mineral processing manufacturing or a related environment, with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory position.
