The Organisation
QGC is a leading Australian coal seam gas explorer and producer focused on supplying cleaner hydrocarbon energy to growing domestic and international markets.

We are establishing Queensland Curtis LNG, a world-first project to turn reserves of natural coal seam gas in the Surat and Bowen basins in Queensland into liquefied natural gas (LNG) – a carbon efficient fuel.

QGC, which is wholly owned by the British energy company BG Group, employs more than 4,300 staff and contractors. 
Position Summary
Management of all aspects of lease and construction to ensure the Automation & Controls Execution scope of work is delivered safely, efficiently, within budget and in compliance with BG policies, local government and Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) regulations and guidance.

The incumbent will oversee the work of QGC construction supervisors, construction contractors and service providers ensuring work is completed in line with contracts for service.
Key Accountabilities
Core Accountabilities

Position Specific
• Provide construction assurance oversight for the Owner’s representative
• Ensure detailed schedules are monitored and updated and corrective actions implemented to recover any slippage
• Effective day-to-day management of interfaces to other execution delivery streams are managed and optimised
• Provide oversight or input in assessing work method statement that contractor submits
• Coordinate activities with contractors to ensure risks are managed whilst preventing and managing issues that arise.
• Assist other disciplines by providing support with audit & spot checking
• Deliver operational projects that are captured in CAPEX and OPEX budgets, carrying out work within the work activity framework (WAF)
• Supervising QGC construction and consultant contracts for the purpose of contract compliance, regulatory and engineering standards , provisions, stipulations, quantities and quality
• Daily reporting of all projects on safety, progress, environmental, schedule, delivery of materials issues, accommodation, transport, labour and all resources affecting the works
• Review project program and /or drawings for the purpose of resolving issues such as constructability, field conditions and design
• Manage outputs within the approved budget guidelines and constraints
• Use the Management of change process to enact alterations to scope, deliverables and or budget
• The incumbent will be responsible for providing direction to the, supervisors, sub-contractors and vendor personnel allocated to the individual projects and ensure that the safe progress of the works proceeds according to the overall schedules and achieve the objectives of the company
• In addition to these duties, the incumbent will be expected to perform such other duties as may from time to time be assigned by QGC. The incumbent may be required to carry out such other instructions and directions as QGC may from time to time reasonably and lawfully give to you

People Management• Responsible for all construction staff allocated to them within the designated projects and coordinates with other managers on the site
• Ensure the performance of the personnel provide a safe and successful operation during the start up, scheduled works and hand over of the satisfactorily completed works to the operations group
• The contractor must abide by company policy in relation to HR policies and procedures such as annual HR cycle and meet deadlines within the appropriate timeframes

Health Safety Security and Environment (HSSE)• The incumbent is responsible for the safety on site of team members reporting in to this role by ensuring that corporate and local Health, Safety, Security and Environmental policies and regulations are applied on project activities
• Every individual has a duty to both themselves and those around them to ensure that safe practice is adhered to at all times. In addition to any specific accountabilities for HSSE, all Contractors are accountable for HSSE within their area of the Business and are responsible for ensuring that their team (if applicable) adopt exemplary HSSE behaviours
• All QGC Contractors are expected to be aware of, and adhere to the Business Principles at all times under Conduct, Our People, Society and HSSE and to participate in relevant training
Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Experience Required
• Significant experience on large scale oil and gas facilities or complex automation and control projects from both an owners and contractors perspective
• Proven experience with safety management systems and the application of HSSE principles on construction projects
 
Knowledge, Languages,
Skills and Attributes
• Relevant engineering qualifications in a relevant discipline or Trade qualification Knowledge of international standards and procedures including Conditions of Contract
• Permit to Work knowledge and experience
• Experience using a structured engineering MoC process
• Able to challenge others in a constructive manner and negotiate successfully with internal peers and contractors to influence position decisions or ways of working
• Ability to deal with conflict and achieve practical resolutions
• HSSE knowledge and practical experience
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills
• Ability to understand the complex Automation and Control system and articulate it simply to non-specialist members
• Problem solving ability
• Knowledge of planning and scheduling
 
Special Features
• Ability to undertake short domestic travel
• Ability to work on-site for extended durations demanded by the nature of the position
