The opportunity
 
We are looking for a Conveyor Belt Coordinator, based at our port operation, Dampier, to conduct pre-starts, daily inspection of conveyor systems and manage all associated equipment required for belt maintenance.
 
Our port facilities consist of three shipping terminals located on the Pilbara coast at Dampier and Cape Lambert which form an essential part of our logistics process. Each terminal has facilities for train unloading, iron ore stockpiling, product blending and ship loading. Expansion works at Cape Lambert will underpin an expansion of our system capacity to 360 million tonnes per annum.

What the role entails
 
This position is a great opportunity for a self-motivated individual with excellent people management skills, a positive can-do attitude and the ability to communicate across a wide variety of levels. Residentially based in Dampier or Karratha (5 days on and 2 days off) and reporting to the Cranes and Belts Superintendent, you will be:       
  • Inspecting and maintaining conveyor belts for ensuring reliability and safe operation of the plant
  • Providing reports and action plans in regard to corrective work required for all conveyor systems
  • Liaising with the Shutdown and Area Planners including Condition Monitoring and Reliability Engineers and contracting conveyor belt companies for arranging safe and efficient belt change outs
  • Identifying belt reliability and cost reductions for the business
  • Fostering a culture of zero harm and continuous improvement at the work place 
What you will need for this role
 
To succeed in this exciting and challenging role, you will have: 
  • A Certificate IV in Conveyor Systems or a Level III Belt Splicing Certificate
  • Experience working on fabric and steel cord conveyor belts, including belt splicing and quality audit checks
  • Experience in coordinating large shutdowns which involve belt replacements
  • A current Western Australia “C” class driver’s licence 
A Mechanical Fitter, an Electrician or a Boilermaker trade certificate will be highly regarded.
