Summary: 

Location: Home-based with one trip to Nairobi
Type of contract: Short term Assignment – SSA (International)
Duration: 15 days between July and September 2013
Objective: The main objective of the consultancy is to support the organization of the Expert Group Meeting on an African position on the post – 2015 development framework that includes a strong gender dimension.

Overall Scope and Tasks:

  1. Identify key gender priorities and concerns analyzing the state of the art in the preparations of the Post – 2015 Development Framework, including the work of the High – Level Panel.
  2. Critically review concerns so as to define the main focus of the Expert Meeting, which will include an overall view on actionability of goals and targets in Africa.
  3. Present a network analysis of engagement with the issues of gender in the Post – 2015 Development framework from an African position.
  4. Present an outline for the Expert Group Meeting.
  5. Provide a time-line for the organization of the Expert Group Meeting.
  6. Present names of potential candidates and participants to the meeting.
  7. Propose and annotated and detailed agenda of the Expert group Meeting.
  8. Provide technical assistance to prepare the invitations, agenda and the interactions with speakers and participants.
  9. Consolidate analysis of proposed goals, targets and indicators on gender in the Post – 2015 Development Framework.
  10. Develop a set of proposed goals, targets and indications on gender in the Post – 2014 Development Framework that is conducive to African concerns to provide a basis for debate in the Expert Group Meeting.
  11. Develop a way forward on engagement in the compilation of a Communiqué from the Expert Group Meeting.
  12. Develop a follow up plan to communicate the Communiqué.
  13. Prepare a report presenting the main findings and recommendations.
