The opportunity
 
We are looking for a Production Engineer, based at our iron ore operation, Tom Price, to deliver quality drill and blast designs on time and develop plans to meet the short term targets whilst working within the operational constraints. 
 
Located in the central Pilbara, west of Karijini National Park, Tom Price is Rio Tinto's original Pilbara mine, currently employing about 950 people mainly on residential rosters. Tom Price is one of the most attractive towns in the Pilbara with a high school, hospital and a high standard of recreational facilities.

What the role entails
 
This position is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly ambitious individual with the ability to deal with challenges and manage priorities. Residentially based in Tom Price (8 days on and 6 days off roster) and reporting to the Senior Engineer, you will be:
  • Ensuring that mine designs are achieved in the pit
  • Executing weekly development schedules by monitoring and reporting to the operational departments
  • Developing weekly plans for achieving short term production targets
  • Maintaining key productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
What you will need for this role
 
To succeed in this exciting and challenging role, you will have: 
  • Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering
  • Demonstrated experience in drill and blast design
  • Exposure to short term planning
  • Previous experience working in an open pit mine in production phase
  • Desire to live residentially at Tom Price
Your working knowledge base of Vulcan such as designing ramps, cleaning up and development work will be desirable.
