Are you interested in developing the financial incentives to drive the decarbonisation of the electricity sector? Can you think creatively so that consumers get a fair deal on their gas and electricity bills? Could you ensure that the views of key stakeholders are incorporated into policy design?  Can you help design new frameworks to ensure the various organisations within the energy market are well governed and accountable?
The Department of Energy & Climate Change’s (DECC) Electricity Market Reform (EMR) programme has a number of exciting and challenging roles available for policy professionals and project managers. Your main challenge will be to develop and support the implementation of the new policy that balances the need for secure, low carbon and affordable energy – one of the most strategic issues for the UK.
You will have strong problem solving and analytical capabilities, excellent organisational skills and the ability to communicate ideas effectively to a wide range of people. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to be involved at the outset of implementing an important new government initiative, benefit from a range of training opportunities (including a range of formal courses and on-the-job training) and will develop skills and acquire experiences that will stay with them throughout their careers.
You are advised that they will be required to serve at least 2 years in post following appointment.
