The Financial Services Authority (FSA) is an independent non-governmental body which regulates all providers of financial services in the UK. In 2013, the FSA will become two new authorities: the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA).
EFR
Effective regulation requires a realistic understanding of consumer and firm behaviour. To provide the insights we need, we have an Economics of Financial Regulation (EFR) team in our Policy, Risk and Research Division (PRR) which provides research on key implications for conduct regulation in financial markets from a behavioural science perspective.

About the role
As a Senior Associate, your goal will be help us make financial services markets function well. You will produce analysis on which we can base our approach by undertaking detailed work on behavioural issues alongside traditional market failures and competition problems. There will also be the opportunity to assist with the design of regulatory remedies, contribute to FCA competition studies and provide advice on behavioural economics across the FCA.
About you
An expert in the economic analysis of consumer behaviour, you will have the confidence and discipline to deliver in a demanding environment. Your knowledge is based on a degree in Economics (ideally a postgraduate qualification) plus relevant experience. You have good judgement and crucially, the ability to work across a number of projects simultaneously, in collaboration with your team. With your strong communication skills, you can build working relationships across the board and manage a range of stakeholders.
