Position: Iraq GBV Program Consultant
Organization: Women’s Campaign International
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Travel: Onsite training, approximately two weeks
Description Women’s Campaign International (WCI), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, empowers women to actively participate in civil society, political leadership and economic development. Specializing in transitional states and post-conflict regions around the world, WCI equips men, women, and youth leaders with the skills and support needed to transform their lives and communities. WCI's work includes programs in 40 countries to promote women's leadership in politics, civil society, economic activities and peace building.
WCI is seeking a short-term gender based violence consultant to support a new initiative aimed to strengthen Iraqi families and civil society by advancing Iraqi women’s leadership and eliminating gender-based violence on a local and national level through: 1) enhancing the leadership capacity of women at the national and grassroots level; 2) strengthening cooperation and communication about eliminating gender-violence among national and grassroots leadership; and 3) developing a framework and tools for national and grassroots leaders to identify key issues and work effectively with communities to promote and protect women.
Key Responsibilities and Duties Capacity-Building Training; Press and Communication Strategy; Monitoring and Evaluation; and Program Reporting. Within these categories, the Consultant’s responsibilities will include:
• Provide capacity building training including: training design and implementation; technical training for GBV taskforce of high-profile Iraqi leaders; curriculum development; and monitoring of training activities. Training will focus on: 1) policy and gender advocacy; 2) community organizing 3) political
strategy; 4) oral and written communication; and 5) working with the media.
• Support press and communications strategy planning and implementation including: collect program
information and draft regular press releases; disseminating press releases to local, regional, and international news sources; leverage social media platforms for the dissemination of program updates and information; and create quarterly clipping reports that detail press coverage and media impressions for each quarter of the program.
• Support monitoring and evaluation activities including: the implementation of the programs monitoring and evaluation plan; train and support local staff in the implementation of surveys; and manage the collection, entry, and processing of data.
• Program reporting including: preparation and dissemination of required written reports to all partners.
Qualifications
• 4 years of program management, organizational development, or other relevant experience with a focus on monitoring and evaluation, data collection/research and analysis of data, community based monitoring is an advantage.
• A Master’s degree or Post-graduate studies in international relations, political studies, women’s studies, international development or related area of study.
• Knowledge of Department of State and federal grant policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of and experience with gender analysis and gender issues.
• Excellent writing and oral communications skills.
• Proficiency with computer applications: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, internet publishing software.
• Demonstrate qualitative and quantitative data analysis and report writing skills
• Proven ability to work independently, multi-task and complete assignments within tight deadlines.
• Working knowledge of Arabic is preferred.
