Malaria Consortium Senior Public Health Specialist: Neglected Tropical Diseases


The location is likely to be London, UK, but Kampala, Uganda, Malaria Consortium Africa Regional Office, will also be considered.

The organisation works to improve not only the health of the individual, but also the capacity of national health systems, which helps relieve poverty and support improved economic prosperity.
To provide technical leadership on NTDs for Malaria Consortium and to expand Malaria Consortium’s engagement in NTD control, including development and technical oversight of NTD projects, ensuring that the organisation achieves its NTD strategic objectives with the highest technical quality.
The successful candidate will have:
• Post-graduate qualification in a public health or relevant biological sciences. • Several years international public health experience in different low-income country settings (preferably in Africa and Southeast Asia/Pacific regions). • Extensive experience in NTD control and operational research. • Experience in NTD mapping methods • Experience in managing projects and staff teams, including training and mentoring • Previous engagement in successful proposal development • Demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with international and local government and non-governmental organisation officials • Ability to innovate and design effective health programmes • Strong analytical skills in monitoring, evaluation • Familiar with quantitative and qualitative research methods • Excellent planning and organising skills • Excellent communication and presentation skills (including both written and spoken English) • Excellent report and manuscript writing skills • Knowledge in the use of data management and analysis software such as Excel, Access, EpiData, STATA • Willingness to participate in field activities/surveys and travel to remote areas within the region • Ability to follow deadlines, accuracy and attention to detail
