Technical Assistant, Early Grade Literacy to support early grade literacy, in Washington, DC

We seek qualified candidates for a Technical Assistant, Early Grade Literacy to support early grade literacy, in Washington, DC.
 
 
Position Description:
 
The Global Education team at FHI 360 is looking for a Technical Assistant to work on the expansion of early grade literacy activities. The Technical Assistant’s responsibilities may include: contributing to the continued strengthening of the literacy focus area within the Global Learning Group, supporting field-based literacy programs, further development of the Early Grade Reading - Community of Practice, continued development of reading materials,  continued literacy project mapping, and assistance in strengthening related teaching and learning technical areas.
 
Timeframe: 20-25 hours/week for 5 months
 
 
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree in education or related field preferred.
  • Experience and high-level comfort working in cross-cultural settings or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Demonstrated competence in the use of communication technologies, in particular for connecting members across continents and languages with varying levels of comfort with technology.
  • Strong motivator who can generate interest and participation in the Community of Practice among both DC and field-based staff. Basic knowledge of literacy and learning. 
  • Spanish or French skills are desired.
  • Strong facilitation skills.
  • Knowledge of web-based platforms or the ability to work with a design team to create such platforms.
  • Understanding of how to make Communities of Practice functioning and sustainable.
