TENURE TRACK OR TENURED POSITION IN PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY, ESPECIALLY ELECTROCHEMISTRY


Rank will be commensurate with experience, but preference will be given to an appointment at the full professor level.

Job description

The position is located in the Department of Chemistry. Research and teaching at the Department of Chemistry focus on all the key areas of chemistry, including physical, inorganic, organic, analytical and computational chemistry. The department carries out basic and applied research of high-quality as well as educates skilled and sought-after chemistry experts to serve both business and society. The main focus of the research group of Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry is in electrochemistry, with application areas of the batteries and fuel cells of various kinds, metal deposition in ionic liquids and liquid-liquid interfaces. The group has a long tradition in studying transport process which is utilized in membrane electrochemistry and physical pharmacy. Recent interests also include non-isothermal processes which are relevant to thermoelectric phenomena.
Applicable candidates should preferably have knowledge of at least two of the following specific research areas: Electrochemical kinetics, transport processes in electrolyte solutions, electrochemistry of liquid-liquid interfaces, membrane electrochemistry, bioelectrochemistry or electrochemical reaction technology.

Requirements

Throughout their careers, those in the academic tenure track system are expected to exercise and guide scientific research, to provide related higher academic education, to follow the advances of their field,  to participate in service to the Aalto University community, and to take part in societal interaction and international collaboration in their field.
The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in related field. In addition to this, applicants for the position must demonstrate distinction in published research, evidence of consistent extramural funding and strong international experience and collaboration. The appointee will be expected to commit to teaching. Pedagogical studies are an advantage.

The applicants will be reviewed on the basis of their research, teaching and academic leadership and activity in scientific community.


Salary

Aalto University follows the salary system of Finnish universities, but applicants may also provide salary requirements.
