volunteer Social Media Coordinator based in Toronto


Journalists for Human Rights is looking for a volunteer Social Media Coordinator based in Toronto to help become the voice of JHR online.
Position Description:
The core task of a Social Media Volunteer Coordinator is to share information about JHR’s programs and human rights in general by using the various social media tools that JHR is part of. They will be responsible for monitoring and keeping relevant stakeholders updated with JHR news in the online world.
Social Media Coordinator will enhance their skills in advocacy, fundraising and social networking through this volunteer position.
Responsibilities:
• Be an active participant in online communities.
• Work with other JHR staff members on a regular basis. • Check JHR’s website for new information, human rights news, success stories and publicize new JHR content on a consistent basis. • Maintain political impartiality on issues when representing JHR. • Keep up-to-date with general social media updates and work with other external communities to create a better online JHR presence.
Qualifications:
• Interest in human rights, media development and the work of JHR • Familiar with social media networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, Hootsuite, Youtube, Reddit, Flickr, and other relevant social media sites. • A member of the JHR Facebook group • Experiencing representing a brand (an asset, but not required) • Following @jhrnews on Twitter
This is a volunteer position that requires 1-2 days of in-office work as well as 3-4 days of monitoring and updating twitter/facebook remotely. The Social Media Coordinator must be based in Toronto, Canada.
