Department

These are exciting times at BBC Radio Lancashire; off air we’ve just undergone a facelift and on air our ambition, creativity and desire to serve the county is winning us new friends and plaudits. This is a rare opportunity to join a team that’s aiming high. Working closely with regional TV and online, we broadcast to the whole of the county from our headquarters in Blackburn with reporters based in central Lancashire, Morecambe Bay and the Fylde.

Role

We’re looking for a talented broadcast journalist who’s equally at home reporting as producing live programmes; a self-starter with strong news judgement and a proven track record in finding original stories, devising creative treatments and turning them into great radio

Requirements

You’ll be an enthusiastic team worker who is able to bring ideas to life on air through your own work, by inspiring others at the radio station and nurturing contacts cultivated through personal contact and social media.
Confident with current newsroom technology, you’ll recognise the potential for using new techniques to get stories on air and be keen to make sure we serve our audiences, whoever and wherever they are.
You will need a good understanding of BBC Radio Lancashire’s audience and of the communities and economy of the county.

Because this is a job where first class writing skills, a strong broadcast voice and an ability to prepare and read news bulletins will also be required, this isn’t a job for beginners but if you can demonstrate a passion for powerful and engaging speech radio, give us a call.

One of the application questions will be to review an edition of the Graham Liver Breakfast Show, weekdays 06.00-09.00.
