Gillard award-winning for Breaking News, BBC Radio Derby is looking for a journalist to join our programme team. We attract big audiences, a lot of attention and awards for our innovative and engaging programmes. We’re looking for someone who wants to drive creativity in our ethnic programming and provide stimulating content for our audiences.

Role

BBC Radio Derby is looking for an experienced broadcast journalist, skilled in radio production techniques, with a deep knowledge of Derbyshire and East Staffordshire’s Asian communities and an understanding of the BBC Local Radio audience.

You'll be able to report, to find original stories, and to produce programmes. You will also be a strong on air producer with the ability to direct presenters, manage debates as well as studio producing both our Asian and African-Caribbean programmes.

Requirements

The Asian Specialist BJ provides content and production support for Satvinder Rana’s programme which is broadcast from 6pm – 8pm on a Sunday. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate the ability to work independently, efficiently under pressure, and to tight deadlines. Generating ideas that will have impact and resonance with BBC Radio Derby’s audience is a key part of the role and you will also be able to demonstrate your ability to devise creative story treatments.

This is a part time position and your working days would be Thursday or Friday and Sunday
