JOBS AT TANZANIA AIRPORTS AUTHORITY MAY 2013

Tanzania Airports Authority (TAA) is a Government Executive Agency established to operate, manage, maintain and develop Government owned airports with a commercially oriented Management style. As Part of implementing its Organizational Structure, TAA hereby invites applications from suitably qualified, creative and results driven candidates to fill the following vacant posts.

8.1 MANAGER CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE 8.1.1 WORK STATION: TAA – Headquarters

The successful candidate will report to the Director of Engineering and Technical Services and will be responsible for the management of construction and maintenance of airport infrastructures and facilities.

8.1.2   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To identify maintenance requirements of airport infrastructures and facilities.

Prepare maintenance schedules and programs for all airports infrastructures and facilities and follow up its implementation.

To undertake ad hock and emergency maintenance and repairs of airports infrastructures and facilities.

To manage and supervise works and consultancy contracts.

To provide inputs and participate in planning and design of airport infrastructures and facilities.

To review works and consultancy contracts to ensure that the contractual obligations of all parties are met and expected results are achieved.

Manage Succession Planning within the section to ensure that the Department achieves development of its employee to assume position of increasing accountability.

Provide inputs into the development of training packages including post evaluation of all training and development conducted.

Carry out employee performance management (OPRAS) of junior engineers to ensure that the Authority achieves its objectives.

Participating in the preparation of business plans and budgets as well as providing budgetary control of the section.

Performing any other duties related to engineering as assigned by supervisor.


8.1.3   QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Holder of a Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution with at least seven years progressive working experience in the related field with a sound knowledge of computer applications. The candidate must be a registered Professional Engineer with the Tanzania Engineers Registration Board. Training and experience in Airport Engineering will be an added advantage.

8.1.4 REMUNERATION:  TAA SCALE 9

8.1.5 Age Limit:     Not more than 45 years.

8.2 INTEGRATED FINANCIAL MANAGEMNT INFORMATION SYSTEM (IFMIS) ADMINISTRATOR – 01 POST

8.2.1   WORK STATION: TAA – Headquarters

The successful candidate will report to the Manager Finance and will be responsible for granting application access to all users of the system, system instillations, providing inputs into fund management and allocation and preparations of financial reports.


8.2.2   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Granting application access to all users of the system (accounting packages).

In consistent with the principles of internal control, ensure that the necessary user names, passwords, and access rights are set up to allow data input and processing to continue smoothly in the case of an absence from the office of any of the Operators or Managers.

Ensuring that data bases are backed up on a daily basis and stored securely. S/he has also to ensure that the Authority information, user options and security are set up in the system and maintained.

Provide Alerts Setup, Anti viruses updates and front office operations.

Ensuring that the system management tools are applicable at all times.

Providing inputs in the preparations of financial reports.

Setting up of user security rights, passwords, and access to the network facility/work stations.

Providing maintenance and back up of the data bases and adding new network users.

Ensuring that budget preparations and import/exports to the system.

Performing any other duties related to IFMIS as assigned by supervisor.


8.2.3   QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Holder of a Bachelors Degree or Advanced Diploma in Accountancy or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution with CPA (T)/equivalent, with at least seven years progressive working experience, should be registered with the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA) and should be computer proficient.

8.2.4 REMUNERATION:  TAA SCALE 8.

8.2.5 Age Limit:     Not more than 45 years.

8.3 SENIOR ENGINEERS (ELECTRICAL & ELECTRO-MECHANICAL) – 02 POSTS.

8.3.1 WORK STATION: TAA – Headquarters and Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA).

The successful candidates will report to the Manager Construction and Maintenance and will be responsible for supervising engineering ongoing projects, assigning contract jobs to external agencies and initiating engineering tender processes of electrical and electro mechanical related projects/activities.


8.3.2   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervising all ongoing projects (engineering works) and ensuring that applicable standards and regulations are implemented and projects are executed within the time frame.

Initiating tender process and assign contract jobs to external agencies for the maintenance of airports facilities.

Preparing strategic plans for projects.

Participating in evaluation engineering tender documents.

Ensuring that projects monitoring, reviewing and reporting are integrated into the ongoing implementation plan.

Providing advice on major rehabilitation works whenever foreseen.

Carrying out engineering duties at various airports as assigned by the Supervisor.

Performing any other duties related to engineering as assigned by supervisor.


8.3.3   QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• At least a Bachelor Degree or Advanced Diploma in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution and must be registered by the Engineering Registration Board as Engineer. Those possessing postgraduate qualifications and training/experience in Airport Engineering will have an added advantage.

•     S/he must have sound knowledge in computer applications.


8.3.4 REMUNERATION:  TAA SCALE 7.

8.3.5 Age Limit: Not more than 45 years of age.


8.4       ENGINEER TRAINEES  – 03 POSTS

8.4.1 WORK STATION: TAA – Headquarters Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA).

8.4.2   CIVIL ENGINEER TRAINEE – 02

The successful candidates will report to the Manager Planning, Design and Evaluation and will be responsible for the functions mentioned herein below.


8.4.3   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Participating and ensuring compliance of designs of airport infrastructures and facilities with ICAO SARPS.
Preparing the Technical Specifications/Terms of Reference, Drawings and Scope of works for procurement of Contractors and Consultants

Participating in tender and proposal evaluations for airport infrastructures and facilities

Ensure construction and maintenance works of airport infrastructures and facilities are executed in accordance to ICAO SARPS

Participate in inspections of airport infrastructures and facilities for establishment of maintenance requirements or corrective action

Implement the Maintenance Schedules of airport infrastructures and facilities are in accordance to ICAO SARPS

Undertake the ad-hoc and emergency maintenance and repairs of airport infrastructures and facilities

Monitoring projects to ensure compliance with project Drawings, Specifications and Standards.

Monitoring and managing various tasks and inspection required throughout the construction period by ensuring the use of sound construction practices to attain required quality control
Progress monitoring, develop controls and formats of reports and reporting of the projects

Review and monitor variations to the works to mitigate time and cost impacts for any required changes and amendments

Liaising with the other Engineers and Specialists (electrical, mechanical, ICT, etc) to provide support and guidance or where necessary

Review when required, budgetary estimate for civil engineering infrastructures and facilities.

Performing any other duties related to engineering as assigned by supervisor.

8.4.4   QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Holder of a Bachelor of Science Degree or Advanced Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution. The candidate must also be computer knowledge and be registered by the Board (ERB) as Graduate Engineer.

Those possessing training/experience in Airport Engineering will have an added advantage.

8.4.5 REMUNERATION:  TAA SCALE 6.

8.4.6 Age Limit: Not more than 35 years of age.


8.5       MECHANICAL ENGINEER TRAINEE – 01.

The successful candidate will report to the Manager Construction and Maintenance and will be responsible for the functions mentioned herein below.

8.5.1   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Participating and ensuring compliance of designs of airport plants and equipment with ICAO SARPS
Review proposals for projects covering design, plans and specifications for mechanical facilities at airports.

Compiling specifications and requisitions for installation or repair works to be done on mechanical plant and equipment.

Initiate proposals for corrective action on airport facilities in the mechanical field.

Participating in tender and proposal evaluations for airport plants and equipment

Ensure installation and maintenance works of airport plants and equipment are executed in accordance to ICAO SARPS

Inspection of mechanical equipment, to determine its operating condition as required and recommend for repair works

Supervises the operation and maintenance of mechanical machinery, plants and equipment at airports.

Arrange schedules for routine servicing of plant and equipment and tests of emergency plant and equipment at airports

Maintains a machinery history of the mechanical equipment showing make, model, serial numbers, local dealers, repair data and cost of repairs.

Report on installation progress in the mechanical field and take recommended course of action on problem areas.

Liaising with the other Engineers and Specialists (civil, electrical, ICT, etc) to provide support and guidance as required or where necessary

Review when required, budgetary estimate for mechanical facilities.

Performing any other duties related to engineering as assigned by supervisor.

8.5.2   QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Holder of a Bachelor of Science Degree or Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and Electro - Mechanical or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution. The candidate must also be computer knowledge and be registered by the Board (ERB) as Graduate Engineer. Those possessing training/experience in Airport Engineering will have an added advantage.

8.5.3 REMUNERATION:  TAA SCALE 6.

8.5.4 Age Limit: Not more than 35 years of age


8.6 HUMAN RESOURCES AND ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER – 01 POST.
8.6.1 WORK STATIONS: TAA Headquarters.

The successful candidate will report to Senior Human Resources Officer at TAA Headquarters and JNIA and will be responsible for implementing TAA’s personnel and administrative policies, handling employee’s welfare and grievances and be custodian of the human resources data bank.

8.6.2   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Implementing personnel and administrative policies for TAA,

Handling staff welfare issues including grievances, leave, transfer and terminal benefits,

Administering workers’ salaries and benefits,

Processing workers benefits like housing, transport & traveling,

Handling protocol matters as needs arise,

Maintain staff data base and personal records,

Dealing with disciplinary matters of the Junior employees,

Keeping inventory of the TAA property,

Performing any other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.


8.6.3   QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Holder of Bachelor Degree or Advanced Diploma in Human Resources Management or Public/Business Administration or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution and must be computer literate.

8.6.4 REMUNERATION:  TAA SCALE 5

8.6.5 Age Limit:     Not more than 40 years of age.


8.7       AIRPORT OPERATIONS OFFICERS - 05 POSTS

8.7.1   WORK STATIONS: Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA).

The successful candidates will report to the Manager Operations at Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA) and will be responsible for routine inspection of the usability of airport infrastructure and landing aids, providing facilitation, passenger comfort and upkeep of facilities.

8.7.2   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Carrying out routine inspection of the maneuvering area and apron to ensure safety and serviceability of infrastructure and landing aids.

Ensuring quality services and serviceability of facilities to airport users in the Terminal Building and Public Areas.

Supervising operations in the Terminal Building and Public Areas including upkeep and information services.

Ensuring upkeep of Airport airstrips (grass cutting, open drainage and cleanliness).

Performing any other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

8.7.3   QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Holder of Bachelor’s Degree in Arts or Economics or Public / Business Administration or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution and must be computer literate.

8.7.4 REMUNERATION:  TAA SCALE 5.

8.7.5 Age Limit:     Not more than 35 years of age.


8.8       ACCOUNTANTS – 03 POSTS

8.8.1   WORK STATION:   TAA – Headquarters and Songwe Airport.

The successful candidates will report to the Airport Manager for Songwe Airport and the Principal Accountant at TAA Headquarters and will be responsible for the functions mentioned herein below.

8.8.2   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintaining cash (main) and prepare monthly summary,

Doing bank reconciliation.

Verifying payment vouchers.

Maintaining general ledger and preparing trial balances.

To reconcile control accounts with subsidiary ledgers.

Maintaining subsidiary ledgers such as debtors, and creditors’ ledgers, fixed assets register and Journal book.

Supervising accounts assistant activities.

Preparing monthly summary of all subsidiary books.

Performing any other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

8.8.3   QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Holder of Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Accountancy or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution, with computer knowledge on accounting packages and should be registered with the National Board for Accountant and Auditors (NBAA).

8.8.4 REMUNERATION:  TAA SCALE 5

8.8.5 Age Limit:     Not more than 40 years of age.


8.9 MARKETING/COMMERCIAL OFFICER - 01 POST
8.9.1 WORK STATIONS: TAA Headquarters

The successful candidate will report to the Manager Commercial at TAA Headquarters and will be responsible for implementing marketing strategies, airport promotion and carrying out market intelligence and management of customer data base.

8.9.2   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To plan, organize, direct, coordinate and control the marketing function of the Authority in relation to product, price, place, promotion, people and processes.

To prepare and implement marketing strategies and plans in order to achieve set targets

To develop and implement sound airports promotion plan that includes designing/developing advertising and other promotional materials and methods, i.e. messages for video/TV clips, brochures, flyers etc.

To prepare and effectively attend/ participate in promotional activities ie. trade fairs exhibitions, National Transport Week, TAA Week and Civil Aviation Day.

To collect market intelligence data and information so as to identify threats and opportunities for management information and decision making.

To develop and implement customer visit plan in order to develop good business relations.

To develop, maintain and update customers/clients history for management information and decision making.

To carry out customer survey so as to monitor customer care, prepare and submit report for management use.

To prepare and carryout in house trainings on customer care.

To develop and maintain good relation with major/corporate customers of the airport.

To prepare and submit quarterly marketing report for management information and performance monitoring and evaluation.

To participate in the identification of new sources of revenue.

To advise the Commercial Manager on matters pertaining to Marketing activities.

To monitor performance of contracts between the Authority and its customers.

Performing any other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.


8.9.3 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Holder of Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (Marketing/Finance), Business

Administration or Economics or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution and must be computer literate.

8.9.4 REMUNERATION:  TAA SCALE 5

8.9.5 Age Limit:     Not more than 35 years of age.

8.10    ASSISTANT MARSHALLER – 04 POSTS

8.10.1 WORK STATION: Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA).

The successful candidates will report to Mashaller(s) at Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA) and will be responsible for the safety of the maneuvering area, allocating parking area to aircrafts, capturing aircraft statistics and disseminating information to airports users.

8.10.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To lead the implementation of security and safety procedures on the apron.

Inspecting and removing any obstacles which will prevent the aircraft from to maneuver on the apron.

Directing Pilots where to park aircraft and other maneuvering on the apron.

Ensuring that all working gears are in order.

Receiving flight information from air traffic controllers and disseminating the same to airport users like airline operators, information personnel and management.

Recording of airport traffic data and reconciling the same with those held by Air Traffic Services.

Allocation of aircraft stands or parking bays.

Performing any other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.


8.10.3 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Holder of Advanced Level Secondary Education Certificate with two principal passes in either English, Mathematics, Geography or Physics and should be computer literate. Applicants with knowledge of French or any other foreign/international language will be considered first.

8.10.4 REMUNERATION:  TAA SCALE 3.

8.10.5 Age Limit:     Not more than 35 years of age.


8.11 AIRPORT INFORMATION OFFICERS – 04 POSTS. 8.11.1 WORK STATION: Julius Nyerere International Airport

The successful candidates will report to Mashaller(s) at Julius Nyerere International Airport (JINA) and will be responsible for the safety of the maneuvering area, allocating parking area to aircrafts, capturing aircraft statistics and disseminating information to airports users.

8.11.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Making announcements concerning arrival, departure, and special emergency.

Preparing and disseminating correct information concerning flights and departure.

Keeping records of all announcements issued on information desk.

Facilitating departure and arrival procedures for VIP to customs, health and immigration desk at the airport.

Giving flight information to VIP.

Escorting and receiving VIP to and from the flight according to laid down procedures.

Keeping records of visitors who use the VIP lounge.

Performing any other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

8.11.3 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Holder of Diploma in Customer Care, Mass Media or Journalism or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution and must be computer literate. Applicants with knowledge of French or any other foreign/international language will be considered first.

8.11.4 REMUNERATION:  TAA SCALE 5.

8.11.5 Age Limit:     Not more than 35 years of age.

8.12 SENIOR TECHNICIAN (ELECRONICS & COMMNUNICATIONS) – 01 POSTS 8.12.1 WORK STATION: Julius Nyerere International Airport

The successful candidate will report to the Manager Technical Services at Commercial at Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA) and will be responsible for

8.12.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Controlling and protecting working tools and equipment against loss or damage.

Keeping and updating technical reports, drawing and other documentation.

Training junior technicians.

Preparing weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports.

Preparing maintenance program/schedules of plants and facilities.

Participating in the preparation of business plans and budgets for the unit.

Liaising with other sections to facilitate smooth running of the section.

Designing works pertaining to the technical aspects.

Supervising projects and contractual works.

Performing any other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.


8.12.3 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Holder of Advanced Level of Secondary Education Certificate, with Full Technician Certificate (FTC) or Diploma from a recognized Institution in related field and must be computer literate.

8.12.4 REMUNERATION:  TAA SCALE 5.

8.12.5 Age Limit:     Not more than 38 years of age.

8.13 TECHNICIANS (ELECRONICS & COMMNUNICATIONS 01; CIVIL 03; ELECTRICAL 03; ELECTRAL - MECHANICAL 03) – 10 POSTS

8.13.1 WORK STATION: Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA)

The successful candidates will report to the Principal Technicians in their respective fields and will be responsible for the duties mentioned herein below.


8.13.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Work in shifts as per airport planned schedule and make sure that all electrical equipment are available and user friendly.

Monitor and Inspect status of equipment and facilities in order to affect prompt interventions to avoid breakdowns and give advice.

Carry out related preventive maintenance as directed by the Principal Electrical Technician and as from the equipment manuals.

Adhere to all airport regulations and procedures regarding airport electrical works.

Keep electrical equipment clean and in good running conditions and make sure that records, drawings and technical documentation are kept safe, handy and updated whenever necessary.

Perform emergence maintenance (services) to all electrical equipment as per issued maintenance schedule and from user needs.

Advice the Principal Electrical Technician on required tools, material and spare parts associated with maintenance of electrical systems to ensure system serviceability.

Liaise closely with users of electrical equipment and facilities so that care and caution is exerted in the use of the equipment and familiarize them operational procedures.

Performing any other duties related to Electrical as assigned by the Supervisor.


8.13.3 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Holder of Advanced Level Secondary Education Certificate with Full Technician Certificate (FTC) in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical and Electro- Mechanical Engineering OR

Holder of Electrical, Civil, Mechanical and Electro- Mechanical Certificate Grade I.

Must be Computer literate.


8.13.4 REMUNERATION:  TAA SCALE 4.

8.13.5 Age Limit:     Not more than 40 years of age


8.14    PERSONAL SECRETARY – 01 POST

8.14.1 WORK STATION: Arusha Airport

The successful candidate will report to the Airport Manager and will be responsible for secretarial duties, receiving office visitors, attending to all incoming and outgoing telephone calls and providing customer care to clients.

8.14.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Typing and printing of letters, minutes, and other official documents,

Keeping and maintaining typewriters, computers, telephone and visitors registers,

Receiving office visitors, attending to their needs and directing them to respective offices/officers,

Receiving telephone calls both internal and external and directing them to users.

Making sure that all office visitors entering the headquarters premises have appointments or are permitted by respective officers,

Keeping and maintaining a register of all incoming visitors and advising the immediate supervisor on the best way of handling them,

Keeping confidentiality of information which has been communicated to or availed while discharging official duties.

Performing any other related duties as may be assigned by supervisor.


8.14.3 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Holder of an Ordinary Level Secondary Education Certificate, with good passes in English and Kiswahili, and certificate in secretarial course with typing speed of 40 w.p.m, office practice stage I and computer proficiency or a Receptionist/Telephone Operators certificate from a recognized Institution, with at least two years working experience.

8.14.4 REMUNERATION:  TAA SCALE 3.

8.14.5 Age Limit: Not more than 35 years of age.


8.15    ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT - 02 POSTS

8.15.1 WORK STATIONS: TAA Headquarters and Mwanza Airport

The successful candidate will report to the Accountant in their respective stations and will be responsible for the duties mentioned herein below.

8.15.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Performing book keeping duties.

Preparing payment vouchers.

Writing cash books.

Collecting revenue.

Maintaining petty cash book, revenue, sales and purchase daybooks.

Maintaining staff imprest records & retirement.

Preparing monthly summary of all analysis books.

Preparing list of outstanding payments.

Preparing salary deductions.

Preparing monthly & payroll summary sheet.

Preparing bills and recording invoices.

Performing any other duties related to Finance as assigned by the Supervisor.

8.15.3 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Holder of Ordinary Diploma in Accountancy or equivalent qualifications from any recognized Institution and must be computer literate. Holders of computer accounting packages will have an added advantage (like TALLY, By Epicor etc.).

8.15.4 REMUNERATION:  TAA SCALE 4.

8.15.5 Age Limit:     Not more than 45 years of age


8.16    OFFICE ASSISTANT – 04

8.16.1 WORK STATIONS: TAA Headquarters, Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA), Arusha and Tabora Airports.

The successful candidate will report to the Airport Manager’s and Office Supervisors’ in their respective stations and will be responsible for the duties mentioned herein below.


8.16.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Performing cleanliness of the office premises and environment.

Moving files between offices.

Carrying out messengerial duties e.g. photocopying, handling of postage, collection of mail from post office etc.

Loading and unloading of office equipment from place to place.

Performing any other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

8.16.3 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Holder of Secondary School Certificate with passes in English and Swahili and knowledge of operating faxes, photocopy machines etc.

8.16.4 REMUNERATION:  TAA SCALE 1

8.16.5 Age Limit:     Not more than 35 years of age

8.17    DRIVERS - 06 POSTS

8.17.1 WORK STATIONS: Julius Nyerere International Airport (02), Mwanza (02), Songea (01), and Iringa (01) airports

The successful candidates will report to the Airport Managers and Head Driver(s) of their respective stations and will be responsible for the duties mentioned herein below.

8.17.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Driving cars and trucks as well as tractors and machines.

Maintaining vehicles logbook and all accident records pertaining to assigned vehicle.

Transporting parcels from head office to other offices.

Ensuring that assigned vehicles is in good condition.

Carrying out any other related duties as may be assigned by Supervisor.

8.17.3 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Holder of Secondary School Certificate with passes in English, and who holds a class “C” driving license. The candidate should have undergone training and attained ‘trade test’ Grade III (mechanics).

8.17.4 REMUNERATION:  TAA SCALE 2

8.17.5 Age Limit:     Not more than 45 years of age.


8.18    SECURITY GUARD - 02 POSTS

8.18.1 WORK STATIONS: TAA Headquarters Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA)

The successful candidate will report to the Airport Security Supervisors of the two stations and will be responsible for the duties mentioned herein below.


8.18.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensuring security of TAA property including building and other materials.

Checking authenticity of items coming in and going out of TAA premises.

Reporting to the Senior Security Guard of the unusual situation to the security of TAA property.

Maintaining day and night security of TAA premises and property,

Holder of Ordinary Level Secondary School Certificate who has undergone Militia Training or National Service or Basic Police Training course or having a working experience as watchman or security guard.

8.19    AIRPORT ATTENDANT – 03 POSTS

8.19.1 WORK STATIONS: West Kilimanjaro (Ngare Nairobi), Mombo and Chunya

The candidates will report to the Airport Manager of Moshi, Tanga and Mbeya Airports and will be responsible for the following functions:

8.19.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•   To maintain cleanliness of the Airport.

Supervise grass cutting and trees at the airstrip.

Ensure that there are navigational aids such as wind socks, edge markers, runways numbering and etc. at the airfield.

Inspect the airstrip and runways twice per day to ensure that there are no foreign objects.

To ensure that the airstrip has adequate security at all times.

Control trespassing and animal grazing at the airport land.

Control airport land from being encroached by farmers, developers or the nearby communities.

Protect the airport from bush fires by creating fire breaks.

Collects monthly aviation statistics including the filling of AS.1 form and sending them to TAA Headquarters.

Prepare monthly airport operational reports including financial returns and sending them to TAA Headquarters.

Liaise with Regional/ District Authorities on airport issues pertaining to sensitization, visits of government officials’ and on security and safety.

Carry out any related duties as assigned by the said Airport Managers.

8.19.3 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Applicants should be holders of an ordinary certificate in secondary education (Form IV) or above with passes in English and Mathematics. Applicants who have an experience in Aviation related functions will have an added advantage.

8.19.4 REMUNERATION:  TAA SCALE 1

8.19.5 Age Limit: Not more than 35 years.
