Parliamentary Officer Scottish Government EU Office

A full time vacancy as described below has arisen in the Scottish Government EU Office. 

The Scottish Government EU Office assists Scottish Ministers and their officials in carrying out their EU related business and works closely with the UK’s Permanent Representation to the EU.

Main Role

  • Following the work of the European Parliament, particularly in relation the Scottish Government’s EU priorities;
  • Attending European Parliamentary meetings and providing reports for Scottish Ministers and officials;
  • Building and maintaining positive links with MEPs and Parliamentary stakeholders;
  • Supporting official and Ministerial visits to the European Parliament, including meetings with MEPs and Parliamentary staff;
  • Working closely with UKRep’s Parliamentary section;
  • Supporting the Scottish Governments EU Office’s work in raising Scotland’s profile in Europe.

Skills required

Essential

  • Knowledge of the EU and particularly of the European Parliament;
  • Ability to work with others in a team;
  • Good drafting and report writing skills;
  • Fluent written & spoken English;
  • Ability to organise own workload and take responsibility for own work;
  • Confident in communicating with people at all levels;
  • Experience of developing and maintaining good working relationships with stakeholders.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Scotland, particularly current affairs, would be an advantage;
  • Operational level written and spoken French (other European languages are an advantage).
This position will be filled on a 4 year fixed term contract. 
Gross monthly salary: € 2286.10
