SUMMARY
The Associate Director of Education is responsible for projecting and integrating the Mission and Core Values of the organization in the provision of clinical and operational education to the domestic Managed Care Division, AHF and network providers. The Associate Director of Education will provide vision and direction in developing, implementing and managing an evidenced based Clinical Operations Education Program collaboratively with the Managed Care Health Educator to assure consistent information is delivered in a professional and evidence based manner. 

Key responsibilities include:
• Working with various stakeholders to create a program that best anticipates the changing healthcare environment, implements required accreditation and regulatory requirements,
• Designing programs and learning experiences that elevate the knowledge base of the various student audiences and engages all in a culture of learning an continual quality improvement. 
• Collaborates with Member Health Education staff to assure consistent evidence based educational messages.
• Utilizes national calendars of health awareness to promote continuing education
• Supports staff in obtaining specialty credentials
• Developing and maintaining a comprehensive Managed Care Onboarding program to assure the orientation and assimilation of new staff into the culture, mission and processes of the organization.
• Development of various modalities of the educational experience to meet the time zone and mobile needs of the staff. Works collaboratively with Information Technology to develop and or identify the tools to meet such needs. 
• Participates in the AHF CME Program design, development and execution


Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Plans, directs, evaluates and coordinate evidence based educational experiences for Division, Foundation and network staff based upon identified needs, accreditation and regulatory requirements and business development activities.
• Prepares a Clinical and Operations Educational Department work plan for approval by the Division leadership. The plan will address all logistics for planning, implementation and evaluation of educational programs at AHF
• Develops and maintains an Onboarding Program for Managed Care Staff.
• Formulates teaching outline and determines instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings, and workshops 
• Monitors progress of employees during onboarding and other focused training periods.
• Measures progress and evaluates effectiveness of training programs.
• Ensures evidence based, standardized, effective and ongoing training for Division clinical team members. 
• Conducts annual and ongoing needs assessments of all division, medical homes, and staff in various setting throughout the Foundation.
• Facilitates a working group of professionals within AHF to review the results of assessments and logistics for addressing the educational needs.
• Collaborates with the Health Educator to coordinate educational content for patients and staff education . 
• Provides a calendar and attendance tracking system for all training opportunities
• Develops and/or utilizes teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, and reference works. 
• Provides oversight and consultation on any clinical publication (Newsletter)
• Reviews with Provider Relations, Grant Department and Compliance contract requirements and incorporates such requirements into clinical and operational staff education. 
• Reviews with Managed Care and Disease Management Program Directors the educational needs of clinical staff in those national programs
• Identifies available technologies available for the training programs with IT Department. 
• Participates in PosiTrak and other care and operations technology teams.
• Conducts continuing Model of Care education and updates to staff. Participates in network provider curriculum development.
• Collaborates with leadership teams at AHF including compliance and legal as well as other departments to ensure consistent, standardized delivery of clinical information. 
• Partners with respective clinical trainers and contractors to provide educational formats to address identified needs.
• Effectively communicates plans for educational programs to appropriate Directors to ensure coordination and compliance. 
• Designs educational formats and curricula to address clinical training needs of clinical and operational staff.
• Provide ongoing technical consultation on clinical trainings as the needs arise.
• Designs an evaluation component for education programs. 
• Applies to the appropriate national nursing organization for accreditation of AHF as a national provider of continuing education credits.
• Develops education program to support certification for various staff disciplines, e.g., ACRN, CPHQ, CCM, etc. .

Supervisory Responsibilities

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
• Graduate of Accredited Nursing program, BSN Degree preferred.
• Valid California Registered Nurse License.
• Three (3) years of experience in Managed Care setting.
• Three (3) years of experience in managing education programs and training activities
• HIV/AIDS experience a plus.

Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Reasoning Ability
Very High Skills: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer/Software Skills & Abilities
To perform the job successfully candidate should possess intermediate knowledge of MS Office software, including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, MS PowerPoint, and MS Project.

Other Skills & Abilities/Qualifications
Demonstrated knowledge of education pedagogy as applied to clinical training teaching and training skills.
Experience in Quality Improvement philosophy.
Excellent organization, problem solving, decision making, presentation and communication skills.
Results oriented with the ability to work independently as part of a team.
Ability to function well in a fast-paced and changing work environment.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations
Registered Nurse License with the State of California.
Valid driver’s license and proof of automobile liability insurance.
