Chief of Party for 5-Year Jamaica Project

AMEX International is planning to prepare a proposal to The United States Agency for International Development in Jamaica (USAID/Jamaica), which is soliciting proposals to promote citizen security in selected Government of Jamaica (GOJ) Community Renewal Program (CRP) communities. The purpose of this Caribbean Basin Security Initiative (CBSI) Program is to build on prior CBSI accomplishments in order to strengthen community and civil society organizations (CSOs), increase citizen cooperation and accountability, strengthen juvenile justice and at-risk youth programs, and improve community policing practices. The new Program will capitalize on existing USAID and GOJ endeavors and create new opportunities for promoting community-based partnerships that will prevent violence and crime, support for the rule of law, control corruption, and increase citizen participation and youth engagement. The Program will also be innovative as it aims to integrate global climate change (GCC) adaptation issues into select activities. In particular, GCC activities will focus on improving the adaptive capacity of urban poor communities to be better prepared for the impacts of extreme weather events (i.e. hurricanes and droughts).
The planned activity is designed as a five-year effort, estimated to begin at the start of calendar year 2014.
This is a complex project that requests several dozen specific results to occur over the 5-year life of the project, so candidates are encouraged to review the Statement of Work (SOW) before applying. We need a Chief of Party to oversee the project, which will need to work a lot with the Jamaican Constabulary Force to help them improve their relationships with Jamaican citizens, and also work extensively with developing programs to keep youth from joining gangs and from operating negatively. Other positions are also described in the SOW.
To apply, email the following documents by July 19 to resumes@amexdc.com, using the subject line CBSI: Your most complete and current resume; cover letter indicating position sought, contact information for 3 professional references, a completed and signed USAID1420 form, and the AMEX skills summary formWe would appreciate simply hearing from you by this Monday, July 15 at noonif you intend to apply for the Chief of Party position.
