Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) is a State Corporation whose responsibility is to manage and conserve wildlife in Kenya.  The Service seeks to recruit dynamic, innovative and experienced individuals to fill the following positions at its Headquarters, Airwing and Training Institute in Naivasha.
1.       Corporation Secretary – JG”3a” – One (1) Post
Reporting to the Director, the overall responsibility will be to ensure effective and efficient management of corporate affairs and compliance with enabling legal matters and other relevant legislations.
Duties & Responsibilities
 Advising the board and management on all legal matters.
  •  Ensuring that the corporation complies with statutory and other regulatory requirements.
  •  Coordinating external panel of lawyers representing the Service in Court and arbitrations as may be required.
  •  Coordinating all litigations in liaison with the Attorney General's Chambers, Government Ministries and external lawyers.
  •  Safeguarding of corporation interests matters affecting the Service.
  •  Drawing and processing legal notices and other gazettements that are issued under the requirements of the Wildlife (Conservation and Management) Act.
  •  Preparing Board business and maintaining proper records of Board’s proceedings
  •  Keeping safe custody of Corporate Seal and security documents.
  •  Preparing and vetting of contracts.
  •  Coordinating the review of laws, by-laws and regulations relating to the Service
  •  Supervising, appraising and ensuring appropriate training of staff in the department.
  •  Performing any other duties that may be assigned by the Board and management from time to time. 
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor of laws degree from a recognized institution.
  • Master’s degree in Law
  •  Post-graduate Diploma in Law
  • Advocate of the High Court
  • CPS (K)
  • Report writing, communication, interpersonal, analytical, problem solving and IT skills.
  • Must be a member of a recognized professional body
  • Minimum of five (5) years working experience in a similar position and Institution.
  • Possession of valid Certificate of Good Conduct obtained from the CID
2.     Head Productivity Improvement & Quality Assurance – JG “3b” - One  (1) Post
Reporting to the Deputy Director Strategy and Change, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring continuous improvement in productivity in the organization.
Duties & Responsibilities
 Promoting quality culture and performance improvement throughout the organization
  • Developing organizational performance indices for performance monitoring
  • Promoting innovation and creativity culture in the organization
  • Ensuring the processes needed for the quality management system in the organization are established implemented and maintained
  • Reporting to Management on matters relating to quality
  •  Liaising with external parties on matters relating to quality
  •  Identifying quality related training needs
  • Monitoring performance of the quality management system and reporting to top management
Job Requirements
  • Master’s degree in Strategic Management or its equivalent
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Productivity Management or its equivalent
  • Proven training in productivity improvement, management and IT skills
  • At least Four (4) years relevant experience in a similar position and Institution.
  • Possession of valid Certificate of Good Conduct obtained from the CID
3.     Helicopter Pilot – JG”5” – Two (2) Posts
Reporting to the Chief Pilot the overall responsibility for the successful candidate will be to undertake aerial surveillance for effective provision of wildlife management services.
Duties & Responsibilities       
  • Flying KWS helicopters.
  • Participating in security operations.
  • Participating in aerial wildlife management activities –darting of animals & census.
  • Training other pilots
  • Any other duty assigned by the Chief Pilot.
Job Requirements
  • Must be a Kenyan citizen.
  • Must be in possession of Commercial Helicopter Flying License (CPL) or above.
  • Minimum 1000 hours Gas Turbine helicopters.
  • Must be ready to cope with off base field operations.
  • Must be in possession of minimum academic qualification of KCSE –C+ or “O” level KCE – Div. II.
  • Must be ready to undertake a mandatory paramilitary conversion course if not an ex-uniformed officer.
  •  Additional advantages if;
          - Rated in  both 206 and 407 models
          - Training in Air Operations safety
          - Basic degree  will be an added advantage
  • Possession of valid certificate of Good Conduct obtained from the CID 
4.    Lecturer II - JG “6” – KWSTI - One (1) Post  Pos
Reporting to the Deputy Principal, the successful candidate will be responsible for the provision of quality teaching, research and consultancy service in order to attain the set objectives of the Institute.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teaching, conducting research and providing guidance to trainees
  • Participating in training curriculum development and training programs
  • Preparing reports
Job Requirements
  • MSc. in Hospitality Management or equivalent with at least one (1) relevant scientific publication in a referred journal.
  • IT Skills
  • Three (3) years relevant experience in a similar position and Institution.
  • Possession of valid certificate of Good Conduct obtained from the CID
