Senior Analyst, Global Burden of Disease Independent Advisory Committee

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and highly skilled analyst to join an international-level, multi-disciplinary global health project, the Global Burden of Disease Independent Advisory Committee. This committee will provide guidance and inputs to the Global Burden of Disease Project, based at the Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation, based in Seattle, USA. 
Working directly with Professor Peter Piot, Director of the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, in his capacity as founding Chair of this Independent Advisory Committee, the successful candidate will be responsible for all analytical work and report preparation to support the Committee.  The post-holder will be required to work to tight deadlines in line with a stringent project critical path.  A crucial element of the role will be to horizon scan effectively, and continuously connect with the Global Burden of Disease secretariat and other groups across the world engaged in global disease burden estimates.  The post-holder will ensure that the Committee adheres to the project’s 5-year plan in conjunction with its partner, the King Baudouin Foundation US and Belgium, and the funder, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.  A Programme Manager will also be appointed to work closely with the Senior Analyst to support the work of the project and the Committee.
The post-holder will have a PhD or equivalent in a relevant discipline and be expert in quantitatively analysing and presenting complex information and reports in a relevant field such as epidemiology, economics or statistics with a strong academic background a strong academic background and close familiarity with statistical analysis of population health, and very strong advocacy, leadership and communication skills.
The appointment is available immediately, and is currently funded to 2018.  The deadline for applications is 16 October 2013.  Interviews will be taking place on 24 October 2013.
