FIAN International seeks a 

Coordinator for the yearbook Right to Food and Nutrition Watch

The position is 75% to 100% and based at FIAN International Secretariat in Heidelberg, Germany, which serves as the secretariat to the Right to Food and Nutrition Watch Consortium. FIAN is the international human rights organization for the right to adequate food.

Duties: 

• Identify theme and authors for annual edition in cooperation with the Watch editorial board
• Collect, review and edit articles for the Watch 
• Supervise review, translation and layout processes 
• Organize the Watch launch at global level 
• Conduct content management of Watch website and newsletters 
• Foster synergies and increase collaboration between the Watch and the Global Network for the Right to Food and Nutrition
• Support the communication work of FIAN International 

Profile:

The ideal candidate is someone who has substantial knowledge of the field of human rights, in particular the right to food and nutrition, and experience in editing and communication. The candidate should have strong interpersonal and coordination skills; work well in collaborative processes, especially between international organizations, networks and grassroots groups; and should be energized by and comfortable with a wide range of organizations, working styles, and issues. 

Requirements: 

• Master’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Human Rights, Political Science, or related field—or equivalent experience
• A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in NGO's work, ideally in the area of communications
• Understanding of, and experience working with, human rights issues 
• Fluency in English and excellent writing skills, including drafting, reviewing and editing documents
• Fluency in French and/or Spanish
• Experience of managing competing deadlines, prioritizing, using own initiative with attention to detail 
• Strong facilitation skills to work with a wide range of civil society groups and interests internationally; capacity to do outreach and to work effectively and comfortably with diverse human rights organizations, social movements’ activists and government officials
• Knowledge of the right to adequate food and nutrition is an asset
• Experience in liaising with the media and working to prepare people for interviews, developing talking points, etc. is an asset
• Established relationships within the global human rights movement, particularly grass roots, national, and regional human rights organizations are an asset
• Familiarity with CMS Typo3 and Adobe Incopy is an asset

- Gross-Annual Salary between 32.000 and 51.000 Euro for a 100% position (exact amount depends on age and family situation), including health insurance and pension scheme.
