IT Infrastructure Assistant (Ref: 13-55 IA/NRS/HQ)

The International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking a professional Network Infrastructure Assistant with a high level of commitment to support the functions and provide IT network systems analysis.

The position: The Network Infrastructure Assistant position will be based in Lima, Peru and will report to the Infrastructure and Operations Officer. This position will support and ensure the proper security and information integrity within the Centre, maintain the IT network infrastructure and support technical projects.
Duties and Accountabilities:
  • Support and  maintain CIP’s network infrastructure, LAN / WAN/ WLAN and network deployment (network appliances)
  • Support and maintain Wireless infrastructure, through the verification of operation, service provider level (including Wireless controller, WAP devices)
  • Monitoring services: security system through performance verification and VPN connection, unified communication, among others
  • Support and maintain local telephone system, through the verification of operation (including  call manager/unified communication/VoIP)
  • Support the maintenance and monitoring of the communication infrastructure, physical data cabling, network nodes, Datacenter.
  • Identify problems that may arise in the system and provide solutions(NOC), Support Level2
  • Support the activities of network  upgrade and communication projects
  • Support the documentation of processes and protocols (based on ITIL)
Selection Criteria:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineer, Telecommunications, Electronics Technical, or related discipline.
  • Between 1-2 years of experience, with at least 1 year demonstrated experience in similar functions.
  • Intermediate written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure, by identifying goals, setting priorities, and working proactively.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, being able to interact with staff at all levels and to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Cisco CCNA certification - desirable.
Conditions: This position is local thus limited to Peruvian national and permanent residents. The employment contract will be for an initial one-year term with three months of probation period and with the possibility of renewal.
