Position Summary

Operating within the Asset Technical team, this role has responsibility for all Operations aspects of BGs Operated by Others (OBO) portfolio (Currently, Buzzard, J Block, Elgin Franklin and CATS terminal and pipeline). To work with the Asset Managers and Functional teams within the Europe E&P (EE&P) organisation to maximise value to BG from these key fields. These fields although operated by others contribute significantly to EE&P achieving its volumes and PBIT targets. 

The role reports to the Operations Support Manager who in turn reports to the VP Technical. The role is one of seven Managers (three Asset and four Functional) within OBO. The position is an experienced role with primary responsibility for all operations aspects of the NOBU fields which are important assets in the BG portfolio.

The OBO Operations Manager is accountable for providing functional direction to the operations teams driving these assets, both internal and external to BG Group. 

Key to the role is the development and execution of strategies that safely optimise production. The role requires a significant focus on influencing styles working with major operating companies across EE&P such as Nexen, Total, Conoco Philips and BP.

Key Accountabilities

Every individual has a duty to both themselves and those around them to ensure that safe practice is adhered to at all times. In addition to any specific accountability for HSSE, all managers are accountable for HSSE within their area of the Business and are responsible for ensuring that their team adopt exemplary HSSE behaviours. 
- Provision of Operational support/resources across the OBO Assets.
- Liaise with the Asset management teams in evaluation and shaping the annual work programs and Capital and Operational budgets of the non operated joint ventures. Assuring that our Non Operated assets have adequate and appropriate Life of Field plans, with appropriate emphasis on Asset Integrity, Maintenance & Reliability. Challenge and review operators. Also responsible for assurance of operators shut down plans and making sure that best practice is shared within and across the BG assets and lessons learnt are acted on.
- Set leadership on all operational, technical, and developmental activities, championing a culture of continuous improvement. Seek to influence OBO operator in maximisation of production efficiency against well-defined potential.
- Seek out gaps in production activities, processes, and production strategy with the responsibility of influencing production improvement within OBO Assets.
- Encourage operator to apply industry best practice in support of production excellence.
- Engender a culture of continuous HSSE performance improvement, developing systems, infrastructure and ways to measure.
- Instil BG HSSE culture and standards amongst all external partners and vendors.
- Partner Relations - Key focal point for interaction with Operator and other JV partners.
Determine strengths and weaknesses of Operator. Assess where support and challenge is required across the disciplines.
- PBIT, Production and Operating Cost delivery.
- Identification of Production, Reliability and Integrity Improvement Projects.
- Reserves Reporting and Hydrocarbon Maturation.
- Influencing OBO exploration and business growth program.
- Responsible for getting investment decisions etc through BG's value assurance processes.

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute

Degree qualification desirable.
Experience of optimising production from operated assets and influencing production optimisation of non-operated assets.

Offshore experience ideally up to and including Senior Supervisor/OIM level

Implementation of remedial actions to sustain/improve reliability/availability. 

Monitoring production efficiency and implementing improvements.
Experience of the key skills and behaviours required in order to effectively influence and support the operator and other partners within our NOJV.
Experience working as Operator leading a significant joint venture would be an advantage.
Proven ability to work within and when required, to lead multi-disciplined teams to deliver significant benefits to the company. 
Experienced VAF practitioner.
Demonstrating safety leadership and promoting a safety culture amongst all personnel.
Ability to work independently with little supervision, to propose priorities and agree them with management, to manage own time and to work to tight deadlines under pressure when necessary.
Collaborative and adaptive working style.
Good problem-solving and analytical skills, able to determine the approximate impact of each issue quickly to prioritise further work.
Skilled in engaging and facilitating others to think and plan new action.
Good influencing skills, with the ability to effectively influence at all levels both internally and externally.
Ability to work with and gain the confidence and respect of senior management within BG, and with key customers and JV partners.
Effective communicator (written and oral).
Experienced professional with operational background in E&P, demonstrated through solid working knowledge.
Has fundamental understanding of operations principles and processes and has ability to oversee their implementation and long-term effective management.
