Norlha is a non-profit, non-political, non-religious NGO based in Lausanne, Switzerland, that supports remote and poor communities in the Himalayas to improve their lives in terms of food security, livelihoods and gender equality. Norlha currently has projects in Nepal, Bhutan and China. In order to reinforce the Finance Department, Norlha is looking for a:

Senior Accountant (F/H)

Contract type: volunteer position or internship (part-time 30% -50%)
Mission :
Support Finance Director and have primary responsibility to prepare financial statements according to the monthly and annual close schedule.
Job description
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Primary responsibility is to prepare financial statements according to monthly close schedule
• Facilitate and complete monthly close procedures
• Analyze revenues, commissions and expenses to ensure they are recorded appropriately on a monthly basis
• Prepare monthly account reconciliations
• Assist with analyzing financial statements on a monthly basis and report on variances
• Assist with financial and tax audits
• Assist with preparing tax returns and corporate reporting requirements
• Assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls
• Other projects as assigned
Candidate Profile
• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Accounting or Finance
• Strong understanding of accounting theory
• 5+ years accounting/finance experience; CPA a plus, but not required
• Highly detail oriented and organized in work
• Ability to meet assigned deadlines
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
• Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives
• Proficiency with email and Microsoft Office applications and one or two accounting software’s.
• Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results.
 Languages: French and English, written and spoken.

Other information
Duration and work time: 9 -12 months or more
Location: Lausanne, partial home-based work possible
Expected start date: As soon as possible upon mutual agreement
