is seeking a Project Manager - Mechanical Cutting
Location: Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

Our offering covers rock drilling, rock cutting, rock crushing, loading and hauling and materials handling. Currently we are seeking a project manager within the mechanical cutting product area.
The project manager is responsible for completing projects safely, on time, on budget, and within scope. The project manager will lead the project from start until finish when the deliverables are handed over to the receiving party. This role is needed to successfully expand Sandvik’s mechanical cutting business line in Canada.
Responsibilities:
- Create and execute project plans, manage project scope and scope changes
- Track and report project activities and spending on budget with internal and external stakeholders
- Clearly and regularly communicate (written and orally) with internal and external stakeholders
- Monitor and drive the project so that is completed safely, on time, and on budget
- Provide leadership, management, and supervision to the project team on the project site and off the project site
- Conduct reviews of past work to identify and implement improvements; share improvements with the project team and stakeholders
- Maintain project files and payment applications, supporting documentation for chargebacks and claims (change orders, documentation, invoicing)
- Manage the client relationship in a professional and courteous manner
- Represent the company at client meetings; create meeting minutes; track and follow up on actionable items
- Escalate client issues or disputes with internal stakeholders to facilitate a timely resolution
- Build up and develop strong multi-level and multifunctional relations with the client
- From time to time, underground supervision may be required to ensure appropriate controls are in place
- Manage the overall project - where control is needed for personnel, equipment, health and safety
Experience, Education and Clearances:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a senior project manager is required
- Previous experience in an underground mining environment (preferably potash) is essential
- Must have experience working on large scope projects
- Post - secondary education in an engineering discipline (mechanical or electrical preferred but not required)
- Must have a Project Management Professional (PMP) designation, or equivalent
- Professional Engineer (P. Eng.), must be eligible for registration through APEGS (Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan)
- Professional Technologist (P. Tech), must be eligible for registration through SASST (Saskatchewan Applied Science Technologists and Technicians)
- Must be able to obtain high level security clearance (ITAR) and a clean criminal background check
- Must be able to pass drug and alcohol testing as a requirement of project site access
Required Competencies:
- Intermediate level skills with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required
- Ability to analyze situations promptly and to determine the proper course of action
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal in English
- Strong mechanical and / or electrical aptitude is an asset
- Ability to communicate in German is an asset
- Previous experience with Microsoft Project is an asset
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings (mechanical and electrical) is an asset
- Previous experience in the supervision of tradespeople is an asset
Additional Information:
- The selected individual must be able to work in the following environmental conditions : able to walk on uneven surfaces and carry up to 40 lb., humid, noisy, reduced lighting
- Fulfill necessary requirements to work in an underground mine; pass lung function test, pass a medical examination
- Must be able to obtain if candidate does not have a valid Canadian passport (no restrictions)
- Able to travel overseas
- Located (or able to relocate) in Saskatoon, SK
