Resident Expert in Pakistan
The Middle East and Central Asia Department (MCD) of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has an opening for the position of Resident Expert to help advance economic growth and reduce poverty in Pakistan. The position is part of a project funded by the U.K. Department for International Development (DfID) to support efforts by MCD to rebuild core macroeconomic capacity and institutions, provide a sound macro-fiscal framework, and assist in delivering more intensive and better targeted assistance to this country.
Main job responsibilities include: enhancing macro analysis by establishing/strengthening institutional capacity to make medium-term macro projections and assisting in the implementation of technical assistance recommendations in the areas of tax administration, public financial management, and/or monetary and financial sectors. Resident expert will provide overall support to the country's IMF Resident Representative and country team.
Qualifications:
- Experienced economist with a proven record and strong analytical skills in macro policy analysis and forecasting
- Experience in public financial management and/or monetary and financial sector issues
- Experience working with fragile and conflict states and/or low income countries
Excellent data management skills
Fluency in a local language would be a significant asset
The Resident Expert appointment is for a period of two years (with a possibility of a one-year extension) with competitive salary and excellent benefits, including compensation for hardship.
