Communications Director Islamic Relief

Communications Director Location: International Office, Birmingham Salary : £47,484 per annum Ref : CD/C/1111 Contract: Permanent

We are looking for a dynamic individual to lead our Communications Division.

Following recent restructuring, the Director of this division will be responsible for a team of specialists in the following departments:

Marketing Support (Branding, Publications, Media, Web and Campaigns)
External Relations and Advocacy
Internal Communications

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate an exceptional track record of developing and leading effective communication strategies and the strategic management and development of multi-disciplinary teams.

The Director will work as part of Islamic Relief Worldwide’s Senior Management Team reporting to the Chief Executive Officer regularly and on the basis of annually defined Key Performance Indicators. S/he will also work externally with a wide range of stakeholders and partner organisations.

The Director will fulfil his/her roles and responsibilities in accordance with generally accepted Islamic and humanitarian principles and must display an affinity towards multi-ethnic working environments and diverse beliefs.

An appropriate qualification in marketing and communications and/or related fields is desirable, accompanied by substantial experience of working with the media. Fluent English is essential and knowledge of a second relevant language would be an advantage. The post includes occasional overseas travel.
