Applications are invited for the post of Graduate Research Assistant in High Throughput Screening.

Reporting directly to the Cell Screening Officer you will assist in developing, transfer and produce high throughput basic research and translation screens primarily in the field of cardiovascular and cancer research. Work will encompass the use of specialised robotics equipment which currently includes a Perkin Elmer Janus liquid handling robot, GE InCell high content imagers, Beckman high-throughput flow cytometry equipment and Envsion multilable platereaders.

The Nuffield Department of Clinical Medicine, Cardiovascular Medicine together with the Gray Institute for Radiation Oncology and Biology are in the process of integrating their existing high-throughput instruments to form the core of a new centre for Target Discovery based initially in the Henry Wellcome Centre of Human Genetics.

It is essential that you hold a BSc and/or a MSC degree and/or equivalent qualification in a biological science. You will have experience using high-throughput liquid handling work stations, have a background in cell biology: specifically mammalian cell culture and transfections. In addition, you will be familiar with spreadsheets and databases and be a highly motivated scientist and a creative problem solver.

Funding for this position is provided by NDM. This is a fixed-term contract for up to 2 years in the first instance.
