e-Health Project Coordinator

Under direct supervision from the Director of Health, the incumbent will assist in developing and expanding UNRWA’s e-Health initiative. In accordance with the established Agency policy and procedures, the incumbent will:

Primary Duties and Responsibilities • Coordinate and facilitate with staff from the Health Department, Information Systems Division and other relevant departments the preparation, introduction and expansion of the e-Health Project (Project). This includes: - Regular meetings with relevant staff at the Health Department and Information Systems Division to monitor and provide strategic advice regarding the development of the new e-health modules and work plan; - Regular visits, with relevant Information Systems Division staff, to health centers to ensure that such centers are appropriately prepared for the introduction of the Project. This includes ensuring that staff are trained and appropriate infrastructure is in place; - Regular visits to relevant UNRWA Field Offices to facilitate and coordinate the proper implementation of the Project; • In close collaboration with the Information Systems Division, UNRWA Field Offices and relevant health centers, coordinate and conduct monitoring and evaluation activities concerning the Project based on defined monitoring indicators. This includes regular monitoring visits to the health centers that are implementing the Project, and regular reporting to the donors of the Project. Produce regular progress reports along with a defined timeline; • Develop and update the detailed work plan of the Project - which includes defined activities, budgetary requirements, timelines, expected outcomes and monitoring indicators- and the overall strategy of the e-health inline with the Family Health Team Approach of the Agency; • Manage administrative, financial and logistical issues related to the Project in close collaboration with the relevant departments and units in UNRWA at all levels; • Facilitate and organize regular communications with the relevant UNRWA staff at the Health Department, Information Systems Division and all other concerned parties including organizing meetings, tele/video-conferences and other types of meetings, workshops, conferences, as required.

Professional Knowledge and Experience • University degree in international development, management or related health and/or communications field; • At least 6 years of experience in project management in an international setting; • Excellent command of written and spoken English.

Competencies • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; • Strong coordination and facilitation skills; • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relations in a multi-cultural environment; • Ability to oversee project budgets; • Proficiency in computer applications.

Desirable Qualifications • Experience in health services management; • Working knowledge of Arabic; • Experience in organizational change management processes; • Work experience in the Middle East in general and Near East in particular.

Equivalency When the minimum requirements are not fully met, the Human Resources Department may substitute part of the unmet requirements under UNRWA’s equivalency determination guidelines with a combination of relevant academic qualification, additional professional training and/or progressive relevant work experience. Note: Work experience alone or formal qualifications with no relevant work experience are not considered sufficient for an equivalency determination.

Additional Information The incumbent will be required to travel in the Agency’s area of operations in the Middle East.

Conditions of Service
UNRWA offers an attractive compensation package including annual salary starting at $60,013 net tax free with dependants or $56,018 single, plus post adjustment of 42.2%. Other benefits, subject to eligibility, include education grant, dependency allowance, home leave, pension fund, health insurance and 6 weeks annual leave. All UNRWA duty stations (with the exception of Gaza) are family duty stations. Initial contract is for one year, with the possibility of further extensions subject to the availability of funds and the continuing need for the post.
