Family Health Team Project Coordinator

Under direct supervision from the Director of Health, the incumbent will assist in developing and expanding UNRWA’s Family Health Team initiative. In accordance with the established Agency policy and procedures, the incumbent will:

Primary Duties and Responsibilities • Coordinate and facilitate, with health and other relevant UNRWA staff at all levels, the preparation, introduction and expansion of the Project. This includes: - Regular visits to the relevant UNRWA Field Offices and health centers that are implementing the Project; frequent discussions with relevant staff at UNRWA Field Offices and the health centers; - Meetings and discussions with relevant community representatives and community based organizations; - Meetings and discussions with relevant host-country authorities, donors, and other international and national partners; • In close collaboration with the relevant UNRWA Field Offices and relevant health centers, coordinate and conduct monitoring and evaluation activities concerning the Project based on defined monitoring indicators. Produce regular progress reports along with a defined timeline; • Develop and update the detailed work plan of the Project - which includes defined activities, budgetary requirements, timelines, expected outcomes and monitoring indicators- and the overall strategy of the e-health inline with the Family Health Team (FHT) Approach of the Agency; • Manage administrative, financial and logistical issues related to the Project in close collaboration with the relevant departments and units in UNRWA at all levels; • In coordination with Family Health Team Communications Officer, facilitate and organize regular communication among the relevant UNRWA staff at all levels, including organizing meetings, tele/video-conferences and other types of meetings, workshops, conferences, as required.

Professional Knowledge and Experience • A university degree in medicine; • At least 6 years of relevant project management experience in an international setting; • Excellent command of written and spoken English.

Competencies • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; • Strong coordination and facilitation skills; • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relations in a multi-cultural environment; • Ability to oversee project budgets.

Desirable Qualifications • Experience in health services management; • Experience in organizational change management processes; • Working knowledge of Arabic; • Work experience in the Middle East in general and the Near East in particular; • Work experience in UNRWA.

Equivalency When the minimum requirements are not fully met, the Human Resources Department may substitute part of the unmet requirements under UNRWA’s equivalency determination guidelines with a combination of relevant academic qualification, additional professional training and/or progressive relevant work experience. Note: Work experience alone or formal qualifications with no relevant work experience are not considered sufficient for an equivalency determination.

Additional Information The incumbent will be required to travel in the Agency’s area of operations in the Middle East.

Conditions of Service
UNRWA offers an attractive compensation package including annual salary starting at $60,013 net tax free with dependants or $56,018 single, plus post adjustment of 42.2%. Other benefits, subject to eligibility, include education grant, dependency allowance, home leave, pension fund, health insurance and 6 weeks annual leave. All UNRWA duty stations (with the exception of Gaza) are family duty stations. Initial contract is for one year, with the possibility of further extensions subject to the availability of funds and the continuing need for the post.
