Since 1973, Oxfam have been working to improve the livelihoods of those living in poverty in Pakistan, and provide humanitarian assistance to people affected by disaster and conflict. As well as our commitment to finding long-term, sustainable solutions, we need to plan effectively for our ability to deal with disasters. You’ll be in the forefront of these efforts in Pakistan.

The role
As a key player in the Humanitarian team, you’ll monitor Oxfam’s Humanitarian Response and Preparedness needs in Pakistan, ensuring that they are in line with our ability to respond to a CAT-2 level disaster. It’s about setting objectives and making strategic plans, coaching regional teams and developing regional managers. As well as building our capacity to deal with high intensity disasters, you’ll work with the Country teams’ to integrate the Disaster Risk Reduction strategies into our ‘one programme’ approach.

You’ll be expected to contribute to the development of the long-term vision and strategic plan as well as building relationships and strengthening our work with Pakistan agencies and Partner organisations. As you would expect at this level, you’ll be carrying out a range of managerial tasks – allocating resources, managing budgets and of course managing a multidisciplinary team of programme and technical staff. It’s a varied, challenging and rewarding role.

What we’re looking for
A talented manager, you’ll have experience and knowledge of the humanitarian sector, in particular emergency and development issues. A strong manager and communicator, you’re able to work effectively under pressure prioritising well and meeting deadlines. You’ll show impeccable judgement in complex situations and the ability to lead and grow diverse teams. Most importantly, you’ll know how to scale up in an emergency, how to get the best out of those around you and how to get things done with tact, diplomacy and sensitivity. Fluent in English, you’re able to travel extensively, especially to remote areas.

Who are we?
Be part of a dynamic new region – we have recently brought together our South and East Asia regions to form a single new region Oxfam GB Asia, with its Regional Centre in Bangkok. Oxfam GB is a leading aid, development, and campaigning charity with a worldwide reputation for excellence and over 60 years of experience.
