The successful candidate will have an outstanding research record in protein crystallography and its applications in biomedical science, and will be expected to initiate both independent and collaborative research projects.

The post will be held in the Institute of Biomedical and Biomolecular Science, rated in the top 3 in England in the last Research Assessment Exercise (RAE2008). The Biomolecular Structure group has excellent in-house facilities for X-ray crystallography, together with extensive biophysical and biochemical research facilities and access to synchrotron beam-lines.

There will be some limited teaching duties, which will gradually increase across the 5 years, but the major emphasis will be on research.
