Volunteer Executive Director MAPLE Microdevelopment
Us: We are a volunteer-managed, American non-profit running the best microfinance program you've never heard of in Africa. We are fun, youthful and passionate about fixing problems and creating change.
You: A dynamic and fun recent graduate or retiree interested in VOLUNTEERING as our 1/2 time Executive Director. You're looking to put your extensive skill-set to good use and to establish a track record of serious success in managing and growing a small organization. You live in OREGON.
MAPLE Microdevelopment, a U.S. 501c3 has provided microfinance and microenterprise development in East Africa since 2008. From our field headquarters in Uganda we provide education, mentorship and microfinancial services to 1,000 low income women and teens. MAPLE is looking for an amazing man or woman to lead our Portland/Eugene, Oregon based team of volunteers and help us grow our organization to the next level. This is an UNPAID position as virtually all of our annual budget is spent on salaries and expenses in Uganda. It is our strong goal to be able to offer compensation for this position as soon as we have the cashflow to do it responsibly, but again this position is currently volunteer. The Executive Director's role will be to lead the capital development team, so he/she would be in charge her own fate in this aspect.
Qualified applicants should have an extensive knowledge and passion for African development and microfinance. Significant previous field experience, preferably in Africa, is also a must. MAPLE is a youthful organization that was started by and for young people who aspire to do more with their lives and careers, we welcome recent college graduates and others on the upswing of their careers.
Primary responsibilities:
*Enthusiastically lead and manage volunteer team in continued growth and expansion
*Lead capital development team, including grant writing
*Plan and coordinate PR strategy and events
*Remotely manage 8 person Field Team
*Collaboratively plan organizational strategy in conjunction with Executive Board
*Recruit staff, volunteers and interns for paid and unpaid Field Placements in Uganda
